This is a spectacular museum virtually devoid of visitors. It is frozen in time, a relic of old Russia. Visited in 1999. No options under "When did you visit" to give the correct date.

Some stones can be touched by hands. :-) There are precious, meteorites, rare stones. You see the diversity of nature. I want to go, look at my feet and and make my collection.

The Geological Museum in St. Petersburg is the second largest geological museum in the world, despite being virtually unknown. It is located on the Vasileostrovskaya Island, hidden away at the top floor of the beautiful university building that houses the Geology department. The museum is free, and when you arrive, one of the nice ladies who work at the museum... More
