We visited this charming part of Veliky Novgorod, which is located on the right bank of Volhov River, just across the Kremlin Walls of Novgorod. This area of town represented and still does the same role in the life of Veliky Novgorod, that is, the trade center of this old russian town. Here, beside the many commercial stores, shops, there are... More

To complete your trip in Veliky Novgorod, and just a short walk over a pedestrian bridge from the Kreml, visit the Yaroslav Courtyard to see merchants' churches and old store houses. Some of the building house interesting museums today, admission fee is normally 200 Rub per adult and 100 Rub for children from 7y. Nice park surrounds this area.

This place is right across the river from the Kremlin, and they are connected by a nice pedestrian bridge. It's a quiet, pleasant walk with a beautiful park and great view of the river and the Kremlin. In addition, it's fun if you are into history - the place is home to several churches dating back to 10-11th centuries. Nice... More

but mostly for those who love history and/or Byzantine architecture. Many interesting paintings and household items in the Churches (not all of them are functional churches), there are also expositions of old-time graffiti (very interesting), paintings etc. But of course, as the Churches are quite compact expositions are not big. The area and view over the brigde are very nice... More

This area is just across the river bridge from the Kremlin. It is filled with quit large number of ancient churches hinting the past wealth of the city and the importance of the religion. The buildings are yet to be fully restored therefore the impression is very authentic. There are also number of landmarks signifying relation of the city to... More

This part of Novgorod is littered with churches. It is impossibel to walk more than a few steps before you see another church appear. Bearing in mind the costs associated with the building and maintenance of such buildings, it is a strong indication of the power and wealth that the city of Novgorod obviously had in its heyday. Although it... More

If Yaroslav's Court were the centerpiece of its own town, it would probably be quite a sight to behold. But it doesn't quite compare with the magificent Kremlin just across the river. This is a nice area to walk around if you need something to do, but it photographs just as well from the Kremlin as it does up close.... More
