The church is located in close proximity to the exit from  "Kitay-Gorod" metro station, and it was somehow seen by everyone who got in this place of the historical center of Moscow. It is Baroque, but with a minimum of decorating elements. This is due to the fact that it, as well as the majority of the Moscow and Russian churches, faced many challenges. It suffered from fires, was repeatedly repaired and rebuilt. But under the Bolsheviks it was destroyed, almost completely destroyed,  only some space for administrative needs of the Komsomol - Communist youth organization was left. It was restored, but in such a minimalist version, of course, leaving a feeling of some understatement. It is squat and in a row of higher buildings looks as a foreign element. Although at one time it was considered a very revered temple, and among its parishioners were recognized figures of Russian and even world culture like f.e. philosophers Florensky and Berdyaev.

I was lucky to see part of the ceremony on this Red church/monastery as it was very mystical. There are many churches in the area to see, I recommend this as part of the visits
