We went on a tour with Alex on our 3rd day in Moscow, my only regret is that we didn't do it on day 1! If you've not been to Moscow, it's a bit challenging to navigate if you aren't familiar with the Russian language...More

Alex was bang on time, spoke great English, with all the idioms, and knew his stuff. Great Metro tour and then the Soviet Exhibition. He finally organised an English tour of bunker 42 on the phone and took us there.

We had the chance to have Katya as our greeter to Moscow. She was really kind and helpful from the beginning and she even brought an Italian-speaking friend to help my husband understand better, since he does not speak English. They stayed with us for...More

Hi, did you make a donation 1st and then make a tour request? I have not heard back from these guys and am hesitant to make an upfront donation.

There is no obligation to make a donation. These volunteers love to practise their English and meet outsiders. I prefer to take a little gift such as a teatowel or chocolates, which seems a more direct way to thank them.
I get the "free" part but cannot locate any discussion what is considered an appropriate donation for a half-day or a full day. Anyone willing to fill in the blanks for me? Thanks.

We toured with Olga from 11 am to 11 pm. We bought all meals, paid for the subway, and gave her 200 for the day for two people. Worth every penny.
