This statue was originally built for the Paris world's fair. It was situated directly across the main plaza (across the river from the Eiffel tower) from the imposing and slightly taller swastika-topped column of Nazi Germany's pavilion. The worker and kolkhoz woman's defiance is awesome as you picture them facing off against fascism. In my opinion, this is one of... More

Heavy inspiration drawn from Greek antiquity and implemented into the "golden standard" of USSR with it's accentuated "epicness" favored over soulfulness and uniqueness. It may or may not resonate well within you, but it could only be the way it's epoch dictated it to be. If you enjoy Soviet extravaganza or are interested into understanding that country and the contemporary... More

1. Actually there is an exhibition space below the monument, that is a part of MANEZH center. You have always a chance to see something interesting in working hours. 2. Best seen at night when the monument is highlighted. 3. Don’t afraid to visit it late in the evening, because after that you can go to VDNKh (All Russia Exhibition... More

You can hardly find better depiction of what USSR was and how it saw itself. Gigantic statue, made almost 80 years ago, is still one of the most magnificent ones in Moscow. Simply because of the size, if nothing more. Especially imposing at night. If you visiting VDNKh (and I strongly sugest that you do) you shouldn't miss this.

This was a definite highlight of my trip to Moscow. It's a huge structure and its lighting during the night is truly impressive and gives you a taste of soviet/Stalinist marketing.

Here, near the VDNKh(All Russia Exhibition Centre) is located this impressive sculpture of Worker and Kolkhoz Woman. When we were to visit the VDNKh, we perceived in the distance this colossal stainless steel edifice done by the very known Soviet sculptor-architect Vera Mukhina and that was exposed during the World's Fair in Paris in 1937. Then, this monument was placed near... More

It depends on you, how you will rate this "peace of art". I am not such a fan of Soviet monumental art, but even I was impressed for its size.
