We got down Arbatskaya metro station on blue line. The house cum museum where the great literary figure spent his final months is small but nicely maintained. There is admission ticket and extra charges for audio guide. Unfortunately the the english version of audio guide...More

I really enjoyed this museum and it is right in the middle of Moscow near the Arbatskaya Metro stop. It is a little confusing to find because there are two buildings labelled Gogol House. The museum is the one farther from Noviy Arbat street. You...More

This was one of those places I felt wasn't a must view but was still very interesting. I wouldn't go as far as saying it was incredible but it was certainly well set out and it was one of the better house museums I saw...More

Here in Nikitsky Boulevard, near the New Arbat street is located this house-museum of Nikolai Vasilevitch Gogol, one of the greatest russian writers (1809 - 1852). We were nicely surprised, looking at newly restored mansion, where Gogol spent his last four years of life. In...More

When my relatives, who came abroad, asked me to go to Gogol House Museum I thought that it will be a common house, with old furniture and we shall skip it very fast. When we came we were very surprised to see great, interesting, modern...More

We happened upon the Gogol house close to closing time. The guides spoke little English but were gracious and welcoming. We were able to read information about each room in English and there are audiovisual effects to lend an atmosphere to each space I read...More

What they have done with the building is absolutely fantastic! If you take an excurtion, you will hear a great story about one of the best Russian writers, they also have some tricks in each room, you need to ask to turn them on! Very...More

Done Pushkin, Gogol, Tolstoy and Gorky and have to say I liked this one the best so far. The rooms are beautifully restored and along the furnishing there is a little artistic touch here and there - Gogol's travelling box arranged like a carriage, portrait...More

Crowds of tourists, both local and international take
in Old Arbat and its modern and gigantic peer – New
Arbat. One reason visitors keep coming is no doubt
Konstantin Melnikov’s famous private house, now open
to the public and worthy of a visit. After exploring
one of the oldest parts of Moscow, avoid the crowds
and turn to the side streets and boulevards where
calmness and affordable food is plentiful.
