The Queen Mary (Regina Maria in Romanian) Park is the oldest park of the city. Originally established around 1850 it had several names over the years until in 2011 when it was "reconstructed" and got its current name "Regina Maria".
It is not a big park, still it is a nice an pretty well maintained one and nowadays every "every patch of green" is more than welcome in the urban concrete jungle environments.
In the park there is a bust of Queen Mary of Romania somehow centrally placed and another bust of the famous opera singer Traian Grozavescu (born in Lugoj, he sang in Vienna, Berlin and Budapest) can be found near the main entrance - the entrance from Decebal bridge. The main entrance - near the Decebal bridge - was designed by the chief architect of Timisoara in the 1900 - Laszlo Szekely.
The park gives a good opportunity for a stroll or just sitting outside - even in the winter - for those of you who want to jog it can be also a good place.
So if you are in the area and you would like to take a walk , it can be just the right place for you... go check it out.

This is near to the orthodox Cathedral in city center . Its very big park and has lot of space to walk, benches to sit and relax. I saw this at the time of winter and summer both. When fresh snow comes on the trees, they look amazing.

Tired of walking to visit various attractions of Timisoara, I briefly stopped her to rest my tired feet. Had a small snack while resting here.
What I noticed here in Timisoara is the presence of small and big parks through out the city. Congratulations for being Green!

The park is not big, but it is situated in a quiet area, worth a visit, if you're around. A good place to read or have a short walk.

A quiet and cooler place, perfect for a walk in the park, or even a picnic. A little green oasis in the middle of the town

This park is known in Timisoara as Parcul Poporului, now renamed Parcul Regina Maria. It is located near the old Park Cinema and Baile Neptun.
The park is one of the oldest from Timisoara, being visited mid XIX century by the novelist Ioan Slavici and few years later by the Romanian National Poet - Mihai Eminescu. Being so old, the park has beautiful old trees, which make shadow in the sunny days.
The park was renovated few years ago, so he has very good alleys, a nice fountain, a waterfall and a sport field with synthetic surface. Unfortunately the sport field has missing metal and wood parts, so it need a renovation.
The park host occasionally various concerts, like cameral music or actual music.
I was with children and due to the good alleys and relatively rare people, the kids could run all around the park safely, both for them and for the other people.
