The first "painted church" we visited, it remains a highlight in my mind. Note that the souvenirs here offered near the monastery are far more plentiful than at the other painted churches. So if you want to shop do so here.

Humor is quite beautiful and close to Gura Homorului. Probably doing a couple of monasteries is sufficient unless you are a really hard core fan. The architecture and art is very similar. I find the interior of all these churches fascinating and if you do too then don't miss out on a visit to the main cathedral in Gura Homorului.... More

I arrived here late this AM and there were scant other visitors. There's no entrance fee. The interior is outstanding (I saw this before Voronet) and I managed to get some photos inside although forbidden ;) I hitchhiker a ride from Gura and took a minivan back for 2.50 lei.

Listed as a Unesco Heritage site, Humor Monastery is also a must see when visiting Bucovina. Make sure you climb the stairs of the tower, you'll get great views.

Slightly different from Voronet. The location is picturesque. Don't forget to climb the tower in good weather.

Humor Monastery: visit the "painted monasteries" as a child and then again with your new family as an adult: most Romanians will do this well worth peregrinage at least twice in their lives, tourist should do it as well.

Another nice monastery in bucovina area, Romania. Very nice surroundings, a lot of places to stay nearby. You should really visit if you're there.

We visited this place mid-morning today, the morning after the first snowfall of the season. It was pretty magical to be honest. We've been wanting to visit the "painted monasteries" for over a year now. But we were even more impressed by what was on the inside of this church. It was truly breathtaking. We visited another, "more famous", painted... More

We toured a number of the Bucovina monasteries after spending the night in Suceava. We were on our own, traveling by rental car. Humor monastery is easy to find and well signed. It's a beautiful, very quiet little place, not a lot of tourists. There was a small parking lot. But a couple of other cars had parked for free... More
