Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a fantastic experience using Peru for less in July 2021 visiting the sacred valley, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. Adam coordinated a perfect trip for myself and my two daughters. Our guides were exceptional and we were thrilled with our excellent, convenient lodgings. I highly recommend them and will be using their services in the future.

We went to tour Titicaca, the Uros reed islands, stayed the night on Amantani, and spent the day on Taquile. I spent three months in Peru through a study abroad experience and I never felt Peruvian magic quite like I did here! We hiked to the top of the island, cooked a Pacha Manca, and danced around a campfire with locals in traditional clothes. Absolutely unforgettable. The tour guides were knowledgable, passionate, and helpful. NOTHING better than this!

We visited the Uros islands, Amantani and Taquile on Lake Titicaca. Our guides were marvelous, friendly, and informative and shared with us the traditions and life of the places and people we visited. There was a great feeling of family between our guides and the islanders and all were so gracious in opening up their lives to us and giving us the opportunity to be a part of it.

We have used Titicaca for You several times and will continue to do so. They are locals and are conscious about treating locals with respect. They are also super helpful. We had a couple people in our group that didn't feel well and they went above and beyond helping us get the medicines and food we needed for them. I highly recommend using Titicaca For You!

Yoshi and Henry were amazing! We saw multiple islands with our family of 5, including an infant. They were warm, knowledgeable, and helpful. When our child had altitude sickness, they sourced supplies and she was good as new by morning. The entire experience was smooth, educational, and organized. I would HIGHLY recommend this company in general, and especially for families.

Yoshi has been amazing in helping me out with my travels around Puno. She organized day trips for me in the area and helped me manage my boarder crossing with Bolivia with the various Covid-related complications.
She's a very kind and helpful agent which I would highly reccomend.

The Titicaca for you homestay tour is the best value. Don’t miss it. Some people have never used an outhouse but that’s all the more reason to go! Being guests in the home of an Andean family is real travel.
First we were met at our hotel by a special representative who escorted us to the van and rode to the port with us. Then after a short boat ride through the reeds, Pablo showed us the reed villages and did a great job of explaining in both English and Spanish the construction, maintenance, work and social norms of the floating islands. Then we got to ride on a reed boat. We were regaled with songs by the people who live there and invited to see the inside of a family home. Next, we headed for Amantani to meet our host family, see our sweet little room and eat with them in their kitchen. We were offered the option to climb to the pre-Inca ruins, Pachatata and Pachamama. After that, another delicious meal of quinoa soup and a potatoe dish, all grown right there. We had a great time laughing and talking to Daniel and Okenya (sp) and son and the other two guests.
Now we are bundled up with ceremonial clothing and lead to the dance party. A live band played traditional music and everyone took the hand of their neighbors to form circles. It was so simple even I could do it. Crazy fun! Morning brought breakfast and a sad parting at the dock, but it is not over. We are motoring to another island to get acquainted with yet another different culture. This involved a pleasant walk along high terraces overlooking vast blue water surrounded by the Andes, two good lectures by Pablo, a chance to see the unusual textile tradition and meet the people who were making it. A lunch of lake trout followed. More information about the social life and dress there by Pablo and a demonstration of local artisans washing techniques. Finally in Puno, we are met at the dock again and returned to our hotel. It was priceless!

We booked a Lake Titicaca Tour through Get2Peru after the Nazca Lines. As soon as we arrived at our Hotel in Puno, Dennys (from Titicaca for You) arrived and explained everything about the tour the next day. She was lovely and the tour was great: professional guide (Johnny), great food, beautiful views, nice boat. We had an unforgettable trip. At the end Dennys came to the port, made sure everything was fine and even gave us a present. We highly recommend this agency: they are very reliable, helpful and only work with top-partners. Thank you very much!

From the booking down to the execution of the tour, everything went perfectly well! Yoshi was prompt in answering our emails and was kind enough to provide extra info where needed.
On the day of the tour, a staff (Yoshi perhaps?) made sure that we were well taken care of and by the end of it, she handed us a little present... totally unexpected but it sure made us happy!

We booked the 2D 1N stay to Uros, Amantani, and Taquile islands. Yoshi was very accommodating - responded to all emails quickly, stored our luggage for us, and arranged a driver for us back to Puno.
Our tour guide, Johnny, was very knowledgeable and actually stayed in a separate room in our home stay with us. Our home stay was very nice and large - 4 bedrooms that each has 3 beds. It was nice that Johnny stayed there as he was able to communicate with our hosts for us (they spoke limited Spanish). Even though it was a very cold night (it was sleeting when we left for the party) we stayed plenty warm under a pile of blankets. The bathroom was clean as well. We were also very well fed. Lunch and dinner were huge and delicious and we had pancakes in the morning before we left.
I enjoyed our time on Uros and Amantani, although they definitely were a little contrived - in both places we were dressed up in traditional clothing, which was fun. We also hiked up to the top of Pachatata on Amantani for the sunset, which has a small temple and pretty views on top. Taquile Island on day 2 was unfortunately pretty dull. We got there early, and our guide pushed us to hurry up the long, very steep walk from the port to the town to get to the main square before other tour groups arrived. That sounded like a good idea, except we got there and the town was deserted. Even the bathrooms weren’t open yet. Eventually a couple places opened up and we were able to get a coffee. The guide talked about a market, which I assumed would be an actual market with lots of tables and people selling things but it ended up being one store with handmade alpaca goods. This was fine - we bought a few nicer souvenirs here, just not what we expected. After spending some time on the town square we walked across the island and had lunch at a small restaurant (trout was delicious) before boarding the boat back to Puno.
The boat was the slowest boat I’ve ever been on. I thought a 2 hour boat ride sounded nice and relaxing but it was painfully slow. We felt like we were idling the whole time.
Overall, I think a day trip to Uros and Amantani on a normal boat going at a regular speed would be great. The addition of Taquile seemed unnecessary.
Also - if you are going to book this trip, do so with a reputable tour guide, like Yoshi, vs just taking a boat over yourself. We heard from others who paid less, but were freezing through the night or didn’t get enough to eat. Yoshi and Johnny made sure we were taken care of during the trip.
One other thing - we didn’t realize that it’s customary to bring a gift to the host family, but Yoshi stopped at a store before we left so we could pick up a few grocery items (rice, beans, etc). There were also plenty of places to buy water on Amantani.

The tour cost is around $60 for the basic stay or $75 for the more luxury stay like we did! It is definitely worth it if you don’t like to hike!! 😊
