STUNNING

Isle of Pines.- piscinnie natural (the natural lagoon), gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, would be even more so in high tide. Long long walk to get to it (through water & through bush). We departed from Le Meridian and it took approx 20 mins to walk with our 7 & 3 year olds.
Lots of fish, coral close to shore & beautiful setting.

The Kanumera bay is stunning!!! Not too many fish but gorgeous setting. Is right across the toad from Kuto bay and beach.
Kuto beach is walkable from the Jetty boat pulls into. Turn left upon exiting jetty and just follow the road around to Kuto bay beach, 10 minute walk. The sand is like pure Velvet!!! It is even better than Whitehaven beach in QLD. The colours are out if this world.
Across the road from Kuto bay (yes literally across the toad) is Kanumera bay, walk down there for a total slice of paradise!
After getting off boat there is lots of taxis and mini buses.
We got into a mini van with some other tourists (who also spoke french), after the driver announced bonjour Madame Piscine Natural .... yep cool that’s where We want to go let’s just get in. No idea on cost or anything just ran with it!
About a 20 minute drive later He took us to Le Meridian Hotel and dropped us off there to walk to the Natural Lagoon and said come back at 2pm. It ended up costing $3000 XPF (approx $42 AUD) for the four of us - 2 adults 2 kids).
He then took us to Kanumera bay (again about 30 minutes drive) , and charged us $3000 again.
He said we just walk back to jetty to get on boat when we were ready. And pointed to jetty.
Boat with Bettico shipping companies was $8990XPF for adults return.
Total cost us $342 AUD approx. 2 adults 2 kids.
Planes was about $1000.

French is widely spoken everywhere and English is very limited or not at all so brushing up on your basics is a good idea.

The good people of Ile Des Pins wisely refused entry to our cruise ship so unfortunately we couldn't visit on this occasion.

Day Beach Visit on Beautiful Beach
Dec. 2019 • Family
Spent a day on the beach from the cruise ship. Far end of beach you can get away from the crowds! Crayfish for sale, and some good fish to see out around rocks.

Great place to swim - quite sheltered. Snorkel near the rocky outcrop in the middle of the bay for great views of fish and squid

Paradise
May 2019
We didnt have long on lle Des Pins, so we took a short walk from the cruise tender to check out the bay. The weather was overcast so the colours were not as vivid. But this did not spoil our few hours here. We still had some great snorkelling. Half of the bay you could not walk on the beach as its privately owned. (so we were told). However from what we could see, it was beautiful. After a snorkel from where we could use the beach, we walked back through the road covered in tree canopy and then through a lush forest trail. I wish we had more time here, as there is so much more to see.

Day trip
Jul. 2019 • Couples
The island was a day trip from a cruise and was definitely worth visiting. The people are very friendly, the street food is amazing.. especially the seafood and banana fritters. The scenery is stunning.. the waters are clear and the nature walks are beautiful. Make sure you have cash with you before hand though, we didn't see anywhere with a cash point or card facilities in the town. There is a couple of hotels/lodges who would probably have card facilities. There is a lovely restaurant on the beach that offers a 3 course menu for a set price. Little on the expensive side but it is an island with higher import costs. The cruise ship passengers actually doubled the population of the island for the day (2000 extra people). The locals can speak limited english, however if you can speak French, even a little bit the smiles from the locals is so worth it. Local guide trips are available that give a tour around the island for a reasonable price - takes about an hour. The cars are not new or airconditioned but decent enough. You can walk the island if you are that way inclined. We would definately return again.

Relaxing bay
Jul. 2019 • Family
Beautiful bay, a lot of coral and fish to see. My family stayed on the right side where it was a lot quieter and found a nice spot in the shade. Keep an eye out for sea snakes, we saw a banded sea krait resting on a grassy area near by. All in all a scenic bay, next time I’ll take the time to venture right around, this time however was a little crowded and I was happy just chilling.

Another little touch of paradise on Isle of Pines
Jul. 2019 • Family
Snorkelling, kayaking or swimming was great in the crystal clear waters. We saw plenty of fish and turtles and walked along the beach to Kuto Bay. A hotel with amenities such as a restaurant, toilets, rentals of SUPs, long chairs, kayaks, etc is available at this bay. Try to avoid visiting this place when the big Cruise ships stop at Kuto Bay i.e only if you are staying on the Island for a few days and got here either by boat or plane.
