We did Marrakech first and then Essaouira. We'd read reviews on both and so didn't bother to do any shopping in Marrakesh. Essaouira offers all of the same goods as the former but with much less haggling and stress. Yes, you could haggle a little...More

There is so much to do in the Medina. Everything feels exotic - the food, the sounds, the bright colors, the people, etc. The area is beautiful and a fun place to walk around and soak in slowly. Actual visit 2015

Bustling and lively. The sights sounds and smells of Morocco. Brilliant place. Lots os haggling but not too pushy.

Wonderfully clean, laid back medina. Shops here and there with little hole in the wall restaurants make this one my favorite in Morocco.

We stayed for two nights in Marrakesh and then two nights in Essouira and it was a lovely combination - Marrakesh is a full-on, noisy, fascinating experience and Essouira much more relaxed, benefiting from a cool breeze from the sea. We stayed in Riad Chbanate...More

Not everything is open this time of year but it’s still really nice to walk around and browse the market area. We stopped at Chez Sam which is shaped like a boat for lunch. Good for something to do outside of your hotel and to...More

The medinas of Marrakesh and Fez can be overpowering, this wee medina has everything in easy to navigate streets.

Loved this Medina, not as stressful or busy as the Marrekech Medina. No pressure. Lots of souvenirs and items to buy. I bought a beautiful warm shawl and Moroccan scarves.

It's about 2 hours from Marrakesh, costs about 1000 Dhs for private car. Ours was easily arranged by our Dar (small hotel).
