Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our hotel was right on the beach so ideal for us however if you're visiting there is also places to park and walk along too. Nice calm area as its protected by the winds and reef so good for paddle boarding etc too. Goes on for miles if you fancied walking all along but gets quite samey.
Hard to write too much about it, all the beaches are amazing that we saw on the island. This was just ideal being at our hotel and we enjoyed it.

So sad the beach is being eroded by excessive pollution by speed boats and sea sports...building of platform for parasailing, tube ride and so on.was sad to see the once beautiful beach disappearing little by little. On the positive note we can say there are nice hotels in the surrondings like Veranda, The Plantation and Ambre...

It is exactly the type of beach you would expect to encounter in Mauritius: large, white sand, turquoise water. That’s why this place is so popular among the locals. The beach faces the East so it’s one of the best places to admire a sunrise. The only downside is that the place is quite windy, which can be annoying at times.

The beach has beautiful white sands and is a great place to snorkel from. Even better there are no cigarette ends strewn on the beach as smoking is prohibited in public in Mauritius.
The beach is long and uncrowned. We stayed at the Sunrise Attitude hotel which is located over the road from the beach. There were always sun beds available even in peak season. The hotel also provides free drinks from a drinks trolley on the beach.
The hotel also rakes the beach each day to clear the sea weed and rubbish that can collect. However this is only done directly in front of the hotel. It’s a shame to see plastic waste washed up further down the beach, but the Indian Ocean is a big place.
The beach is very good for snorkelling as there are lots of corals and rocks. These can be sharp and there are plenty of big urchins and we saw stone fish which are really poisonous, so ALWAYS wear beach shoes. Just be careful where you place your feet when you stand up as you don’t want to stand on something nasty.
The coral reef extends about half a mile out to sea, and you can see waves breaking towards its edge. This is a natural barrier and keeps sharks out, so you have no need to worry about these.
If you are snorkelling the water can get a bit murky near the beach if it’s windy but the further you go out the clearer it gets and the better coral you are likely to see.
Due to the reef the water is shallow, no deeper than 6ft mostly. There is not much tidal variation or current so it is very safe for swimming. The corals can be quite near the surface even when some distance out.
There are a few boats that whizz around and there are designated areas for swimming and snorkelling, but you might want to wear an inflatable marker float so that you can be seen more clearly if snorkelling.
The whole beach is a giant aquarium and abundant with sea life, we saw turtles, stone fish, octopus, puffer fish, trigger fish, parrot fish, soldier fish, tube fish to name a few.
Other water sports are available on the beach including, paracending, hobie cat, yachts, windsurfing, underwater walking etc and these seem to be available near the Residence Hotel further south down the beach (turn right when you come out of Sunrise attitude and walk for 15 mins down the beach).
Also, on this beach is a Hindu Temple with a fire walking pit.
You’ll also see a roost of a couple of a few hundred giant fruit bats in the trees next to the beach 5 mins walk down from the sunrise attitude ( come out the hotel entrance and turn right). These can be seen flying along the beach around 6.30pm but just hanging in the fir trees the rest of the day.

Only visited to go diving from and then walked along it while waiting for return transport. The beach can be a bit shaly underfoot in places and isn't as attractive as others in the area. The approach into the sea is rocky so shoes would be adviseable.

Excellent beach, the water is very good.
But please check the weather during the dates you're there, as it gets very very windy sometimes.

The beach is truly stunning and you can walk for miles. The warm sea gently lapping at your feet if you walk closely enough.
The sand is easy to walk on and is soft.
There were some horse riding opportunities too although we didn’t take up this it was fantastic watching them.
Beautiful 😍
