So, this is a good place to be. I wish U.S. airports were like this one and any other international ones I've been to. This is your first stop before the journey. So let me tell you the ins/outs of it.
I get there early, was gonna buy a sim card but phone isnt jailbroken or I think there are codes now to were we can input something to use. There is a pocket wifi next to toysrus(yes, very popular in KL). Which I paid about 40 bucks for the week. You put a downpay for 40 which you get back and use that for food money before you leave.
ATM. Make sure you check with your bank institution, U.S. used 4 digits and Malaysia uses 6. I got scared cause some atms didnt take my 4 digit and supposedly 6 digit(00 at either beginning or end, 001234/123400) RHB/maybank I used my 4 digit and it went through, whew!!!!
I almost left Malaysia to go to Japan for vacation. Tekis(taxis) are out, metered or bargain, you choose. Download GRAB app before you leave. Spent 100rm($22) and grab was 65rm($16). Still cheap yes but hey, save money.
Food wise, there is alot. What's crazy is that all the tourist here eating foods from their home place. Ate at a Korean chicken spot, koreans there, walking around and a ramen spot, Japanese, get the picture? Its has everything. Dont recommended buying goods before you leave, buy it in town, cheaper.
I got there early, 4hours. When checked in and went back down to eat, worth ti relax and eat good food before the flight. It's basically a mall. Uniqlo there. Clothing stores in case you forget something or want to be comfy before you leave.
Also a hotel, so if you get delayed and dont want to go back into town then you can chill there. Any questions please feel free to ask me. Enjoy...

There are lots of domestic arrivals to klia2 at night, many want a trip to kl sentral and there are NO BUSES. Reason is its one hour 1 bus and is all full.
Will airasia/klia2 do the right thing. If u hv night flights, have enough night buses for the passengers. Urgent.

Huge airport very poorly designed. While there is an abundance of shops, eats and a lounge landside, before security, it is dead after security and immigration. Be prepared to walk for 20 minutes to a second security gate, then another 15 minutes to find nothing but plastic seats at your gate. As for check-in, our lineup was at least 100 people long with 2 very confused, newbie agents processing passengers on their cellphones at a rate of about one passenger per 20 minutes. No additional staff were called in to help until an hour had passed - then just one more! This all may be part of post-pandemic woes, but AirAsia needs to step up their game at KLIA2.

I did not expect this to be a food court judging from the entrance, but it is actually an affordable and cozy food court here in KLIA2! I got a chicken rice for only RM9.90 at Food District (new opening promo) 🤩 They have a wide variety of food options and stalls (chicken rice, sizzling hotplates, western food, waffle and more). Plus, I've also got a cup of artisan coffee from the cafe stall here, a unique coffee blend that I've not found elsewhere thus far, very different and i love it! They are located at Level 3, Departure floor (near Oriental Kopi and CU Mart), highly recommend everyone to grab a meal or a cuppa at Food District before boarding your flight!

The check in at this terminal is like something from the halls of hell, no imagination could dream this up. On Friday we arrived 4 (four) hours early to check in for a flight to melbourne confident that we would have plenty of time to have something eat after checking in the luggage. The queues are extremely long with few staff working the counters but the other passengers, well many of them seem to have been released from a prison for the criminally insane. They push in, and I means PUSH, they scream and yell and will not take the advice given by the staff all of whom deserve a medal. It is chaos like I imagine you experience on a battlefield. We were threatened and frightened on a few occasions. The system seems to take a very long time to check people in and we just made the gate with 5 minutes to spare, no food no drink it’s a shame as the flights are actually pretty good. Air Asia is going to have do something about this as many of the people marauding around the terminal look desperate, frightened and only moments away from doing something quite drastic.
“Now everyone can fly” is a worthy and marvellous slogan for an airline but given what we experienced on Friday I don’t think everyone should be able to fly. It was not just our line it was very where where this mayhem was breaking out.
So my advice is if you have to go through KLIA 2 leave yourself the absolute maximum amount of time.

Would like raise out the problem I had face at stall "Nasi Campur" inside Food Arcade KLIA2.
The pricing are unreasonable between twice that I'm visited. You can refer the food and price list on the receipt. Beside the stall without provide receipt to customers until we asked he only print out.
I'm strongly wish that related Gorverment Dept can insist ask the staff public all dishes price board for customers better understanding and clear.

I ordered nuggets and was told to wait.
Half an hour later, they told me to wait longer after I asked them about it.
I then wrote a review. An hour later when I had to go board my flight, I went to ask them about it and they told me to wait 2 minutes. My tray and receipt was no longer there. They refused to give me a refund.
They would not hand over the manager's contact details and I could not contact him/her as it was not shown as it should on the walls.
So my order of 9 pieces chicken nuggets took 1.5 hours to be served.
10/10 would not go there again.
They are quick with clearing the tables though.

Please beware of scammers at the airport, particularly those claiming to be from Shanghai, China. They may approach you, claiming that they lack funds for return air tickets, and getting your contact information, promising immediate repayment upon their return. They often fabricate stories or excuses to persuade you to lend them money. It's disheartening to note that this group has been scamming for years without action from KLIA2 to address the issue and protect travellers from falling victim. Unfortunately, I encountered one of these scammers upon my arrival at the airport and was scammed.

The place is OK and serves the budget Terminal. What is not made clear anywhere is that you MUST buy your food, drink and especially water bottles on this side because although there are a couple of paltry shops airside after security, not one of them sells water or water bottles that can be used at the regular free refill stations; store staff actually say that they are not allowed to do so! Worse: the air con appears to be ambient at best in this dark, windowless, bunker-like area. A really unpleasant, dehydrating experience - the reverse of what healthy modern air travel should be.

Hello, can anyone suggest it will take how much time to reach from Kuala lumpur terminal 2 arrival hall to terminal 2 departure hall? I have a connecting flight within 2 hour and 15 minutes. Is this time sufficient to clear immigration, take luggage and check in again for international flight? Please suggest. I am traveling with one kid.

Hi,
How long does it take to walk from international arrival hall to another international departure hall? It is not a connecting flight, unfortunately.
I will arrive in KLIA2 around 6.15am from Japan and will catch another flight to Pekanbaru at 10.35am. Do you think I have enough time? Thanks all.

Just to share to other passengers who wants to depart in the morning using airasia...theres issue of very crowded situation in KLIA 2 that you may have to spare 1.5 hrs before boarding time to settle for tickets, baggage drop and immigration queue.
Me and my family have experienced missing our flights due to this issue. Baggage drop closed exactly 60 min before depart time and gate closed 40 min before depart time. No negotiation with crew at all. Limited immigration staffs makes the queue very long compared to KLIA 1. So please be prepared.

Are you travelling in a business class? If so then you may get the lounge. If not Sama-sama Hotel is just nearby about 4 minutes walk. Book a room and fresh up in the morning.

Hi, I would like to know if the fashion shops at Gateway are open 24 hours or do they close at 12am? The gateway website mentions closing at 12am however the KLIA2 website says they are open 24 hours. Can anyone confirm if shops like Vincci are open after 12am? Thanks heaps

May I know how long have to walk from klia2 transportation hud to klia 2 departure hall?
Written 28 February 2018
This question is not clear. Anyway, from where the Taxi drops the passenger, takes about 5 minutes walk to the departure hall to check in you luggage or check in. Could have many people during peak period. And from the Departure hall to the departure gate is quite a distance with a immigration check point, 2 luggage and body checks which may take from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.
