Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In front of Sheraton Hotel there is a monument with nine cats. These animals gave the name of the city, locals love them. James Brook came up the river in the XIXth century, arriving at a village known as Sarawak, which lay on a small stream called Cat's eye. This man changed the name from Sarawak to Kuching (kucing= cat).

Kuching in Malay means Cat. So one can understand the significance of this monument for the city. Located very near to the waterfront one can visit this monument for clicking pictures. It is just next to Hotel Hilton.
The cat statues not only gives a unique feel to the city, they are also nice photography subjects. This white cat is the Kuching South City Council Cat Statue, it was built in the 90s and is the first ever cat statue in Kuching.

I spent half of my weekend strolling around Kuching from Pontianak. This statue resides in the very center of Kuching and it really tells you how unique this city is

Plenty of cat monuments / statues in this town.
We found it useful as a meeting place / landmark.
Pleasant as a photogenic backdrop.

The cat monuments are quite a thing in Kuching, there are 3 big ones in North, Central and South Kuching and several smaller ones scattered about the city. This particular one is situated in North Kuching.
The reason we say it's not a 'thing to do' per se is because these statues are all placed in points within the city that are well connected, so chances are you'll pass by them on your way to your hotel, or if you go shopping or visit the waterfront.
The statues are great for a photo op, and that's about it. They don't come to life, there's no animation or performance, no ticket or entry fees, they are very much a part of the city.
So just stop over, click a photo and you're good to go!

Very near the lousy hotel that I stayed at...
This cat monument is certainly the iconic place to be photographed when in Kuching, which is also known as the cat city!

It is one of the city icon where people should take picture with it. This cat will be dressed up as the events come up. The area surrounding is very clean.
