We stayed at the longhouse with our 8 yo and we were hosted by Mr Joseph Enang for 3 days and 2 nights. Over the 3 days our host passionately shared with us the history of the people, culture and the longhouse.

Our experience were richly blessed when we get to interact with the longhouse residents who were by nature, friendly and generous. We get to see how they lived, worked and played. Among the highlights of our stay was the visit to the hot spring, rafting, jungle walk and visit to nearby waterfalls.

One of the most unique highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the private music presentation given by the reclusive Mr "Rambo" using traditional instruments (Pratoung and Sape) whom in our opinion is an undiscovered musical gem. He played the mesmerizing music from the instruments he made himself where all the materials were sourced from the local rainforest.

The best way to travel and experience Annah Rais Longhouse is to spend some unhurried time there where the charming treasures at this place opens up to you.

Relaxed place and very good opportunity to visit a longhouse. Small entry fee and option to buy small gifts, drinks and some herbs (e.g. pepper) from local people. All in friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We did combine Annah Rais Longhouse with visit to Semenggoh nature reserve (not far and easy to combine in a half day trip from Kuching). We visited by ourselves with a grab from Kuching (not needed to book a tour e.g.)

A real local day trip which we felt was a way better experience than anything else we did. We combined it with a visit to the Semenggoh Orangutans in the morning.
On arrival at Annah Rais Longhouse, we chatted to the locals, were invited into their homes, enjoyed music and food on offer. The hot springs are accessible for visitors.
Definitely get a local guide though as otherwise you wont get a good insight into the daily life and culture of the Anna Rais Longhouse.
Our local guide who grew up there was Drika from 'See Borneo'. Email is seeborneosales@gmail.com, mobile +60 10-368 4321. Drika was an excellent guide, well travelled world wide, with excellent local knowledge and history, together with impeccable English.

If you are travelling to Kuching Sarawak, Annah Rais longhouse is the place to be. My stay there was a memorable and enjoyable one.. i really miss the people and the place now that i'm back home from my short vacation.

The homestay with the local Bidayuh tribe at the longhouse was packed with activities.. good food fresh from the jungle.. great friendly people to hang out with..

I paid RM368 for 3d2n full board. i was told you can actually stay there longer or shorter based on your preference. for RM99 per nite, you can extend your stay.

The longhouse coordinator Mr Edward and his family made me feel really at home. 3d2n wasn't enough for me but unfortunately couldn't extend my stay due to work commitment.. would recommend to all of you out there who wanna find out more about the life and history of tribal people in sarawak, experience their life style/ kampong life and also discover the beautiful rainforest in sarawak. best still having the local guys serenading you with their acoustic performances:) i feel really privileged and honoured.

it is definitely a must visit for all.. to find out more go visit [--]

You can always write to Mr Edward to ask for more information.
And if he ask you how you know about the longhouse just tell him Yati from Singapore recommends it!

Well have fun people when you get there!

Visited with friends and family. On arrival, the dyak origins of my friend were 'questioned' by the staff at the payment counter. So based on looks alone, my friend did not receive the indigenous discounted rate they were entitled too, and instead had to pay as normal. Very rude staff and had it not been for travelling such as long distance with guests - would have turned around and walked away. As for the 'longhouse' itself, its not really that interesting.. most houses had no sign of activity and there are much better places to experience authentic indigenous culture than this..

Our family of 2 Adults and 2 teenagers booked the 2 day 1 night homestay with Mr Edward. Shortly after arriving we set off on the 3 hour walk to the waterfall. It was not an easy walk especially in the humidity so you do require a reasonable fitness level. However I found the path much easy going than at Baku National Park .After a swim at the waterfall and our lunch of bamboo chicken we set off on the return trip which was retracing the way we came. After some refreshments and a quick shower we set off on a tour of the village which was very interesting. Dinner was very nice with numerous dishes provided followed by a culture show where my children were dressed up and were able to participate. Our accommodation was basic but very clean . Mr Edward and his family were wonderful hosts.

We went there on a family trip with some of my colleagues as end of year reward for loyal staffs. I've been looking a -quite deep in the forest- place for holiday, and also easy to reach as I only have short holiday every year. At the moment it was a bit annoying cos far from city center, it took 1hr and 15 min from Kuching city to this place. But...when we arrived at the homestay, I was like Damn! it is a very best place to escape from my daily routine. The friendly owner of homestay welcome us and show us to the longhouse. It was magnificent! He tells us the history, we met some local people who stay there. After some time we explore and saw many things around the village we went home to enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the river just behind the house we stay. Can't say anything but it was a perfect afternoon, some of my colleagues had hot chocolate milk and cakes served by the owner cos it was rainy afternoon, but i chosed to try a bamboo ride on the shallow crystal clear river. Everything is almost perfect there, friendly owner, friendly villagers, beautiful waterfall, beautiful shallow river....that was amazing

The hot spring is unique just appear in the middle of the river and river bank so you can enjoy the hot water pool or river water. you need to a car to go this place, entry fees RM5 so a day picnic is excellent. entry fees to Annah Rais long house is RM8. This location is far from the city so either you rent a car to visit or join a tour but to me rent a car is more freedom and conveninent

My only gripe is the no-photography for certain area which is unusual when the longhouses are opened for tourists and entrance fees are actually! We were shouted at when our group took a photo shot of the residents having their meal. It may make sense to post sign where photography is restricted to avoid ill incidents. Other than this unfortunate incident, the rest of out 'tour' was good experience.

I am not fascinated by the zinc roofs of the individual houses built so closely to each other. There are more authentic longhouses in Ulu Skrang area than this one.
