A visit to this place will cost a local adult RM10 and a foreigner RM20. Is about 45 minutes away from Kuching City. I wonder they even bother to call this place a Wildlife Centre! All you see are animals which have been caged up which looked terribly stressed out. If it is called a wildlife centre, shouldn't the animals... More

We visited Matang Wildlife Centre half expecting to visit a shabby run down sort of a zoo so we weren't disappointed. In fact it was better than I'd expected. The enclosures are mostly spacious and clean. Sure we'd rather see all the animals go free but then we wouldn't see them and there's a good chance they wouldn't survive in... More

We visited the wildlife center twice and prefered the afternoon session. The morning session was overcrowded. On both occasions we managed to see a number of Orang oetans who came to feed themselves. A great experience.

Terrible would not recommend, poor animals, locked, very hot, no shade, not enough water, I recommend not carry baby strollers, no one warn you that it is better not to enter the baby stroller, not what I expected from this place, time and lmoney lost, if you really love animals NEVER go there , Very Bad

So I have mixed reviews about Matang... The park itself is incredible and the path you walk around the enclosures is great - a pathway through real jungle which is really cool. Matang is said to be a rehabilitation centre which cares for the likes of monkeys, sun bears etc. It does however feel more like a zoo than it... More

A place where you can see lots of tropical wild animals. Its a great experience to see the wild animals in wild. My favorite is the Orangutan. The center did a great job in caring the injuried wild animal and once the animals heal, they will release back to jungle.

All you see at the wildlife center are animals in cages that are way to small for them! You can see that the animals are not happy at all! I would not recommend to go there. The entry was 20 rm. Please don't support that!

Read the other reviews after we had booked and was concerned we'd find small cages with mangy paranoid animals and birds. But, whilst some enclosures (especially bird cages) are small compared to say modern Western Europe we though it was perfectly OK in circumstances. Suspect London Zoo was like this not too long ago. So go and don't worry !... More

While the location is appropriate as it is in the middle of a lush primary forest, the need for extra care and feed of the animals in the cages as well as the upkeep of the general area seem to be much needed to make them more healthy and cheerful.

What a depressing place. Animals, including some orang-utans in small cages and enclosures! Very little information and nobody in sight to ask questions! There are pitcher plants but you need to find them yourself, they are off the main paths. Only go if you are despare rate to see an orang-utan.
