The Wetland Centre gives visitors a chance to see a mangrove forest up close. We went there in the early afternoon, when it was hot and humid. Early morning would have been cooler and the birds more active. The staff were helpful in pointing out the layout of boardwalk and observation hides. When we first stepped onto the boardwalk it... The problem with this site is that all of KK has so much grandeur in the way of outdoors. I would try to check out this site first or else your eyes will adjust and have weird expectations of what is great. This Wetlands site is quite amazing for what it's accomplished on 24 hectors. I would try to go... More

A green oasis on the outskirts of town. The boardwalk was well designed and has been carefully maintained. There is an observation tower and a bird hide as well. The walk was well signed and the information sheet handed out was useful. The light and shadows on the mangrove roots were very beautiful and the hide was professionally designed. Overall,... More

My wife and I always visit the KK Wetland Centre every time we holiday in Sabah (twice a year). Lots to see in the form of birds and wildlife, but you have to be patient and quiet or you'll miss them. First thing in the morning, or late in the evening are best.

I was expecting more things too see but since today is the International Wetland Day, I gained lots of new informations that are very useful especially for all of us as the community to know the awareness about the living things in the ocean, such as the Seagrass. I bet most of us not knowing about it but it is... More

The wetlands centre was nice. I went on a Sunday during Chinese New Year, so it was very quiet. The boardwalks over the wetlands are very noisy, but if you stay still for a while you can see a lot of animals. The observation tower was great because you can see the tops of the forest and see some buildings... More

It is good to see that some nature has been preserved, and if you like nature you may want to visit this small mangrove. The exhibit about the fauna and flora, and the impact of human activity on environment is suitable for educating kids (and adults too). We saw many herons and mud skippers. Unfortunately, there is a non negligible... More

On our last day we visited this quiet place, hoping to see more birds and mangrove wetlands creatures. Disappointed with the conditions (lots of deferred maintenance) and relative lack of education and wildlife.

If they really care about the environment, they would have cleared the place of rubbish. There is rubbish everywhere. We were very dissapointed to have paid 15rmb to see this sad place (nice touch: only 3rmb for Malaysian!). Don't expect to see much wildlife, only some crabs and the white birds. Better to avoid this place.
