Stayed here for about a week. we had done a lot of day and night walks. The animals you can find here are samba deer, Monkeys, bear and hornbills. Do note that spotting this animals are by pure chance except for the deer and boar. Tips: 1) Do the trails early in the morning at 6.30 am and night around... More

Excellent staying and activities with refreshing breeze. Panoramic scenic river view over the chalet is so fantastic. I saw hornbill and gibbon too when staying there. It is a best area for bird's watching too. Orang Utan is also easily been seen in Danum Valley . The forest also have a highest canopy walk . The hiking is average not... More

These are the last untouched forests in sabah and it is really hard to get to without an agent. But the trip is well worth it as the forest is simply stunning.

Where to start? The trip in from Lahad Datu was a bit uneventful, but we still saw deer, hornbill and gibbon in the distance. Arriving at the rainforest lodge, you're given a good welcome and introduced to your guide. After a very tasty lunch (all meals were great) we headed out, unsure what to expect as we do a lot... Danum Valley is a superb location for anyone with a serious interest in ecology and in wildlife photography. I only spent three nights at the excellent Borneo Rain Forest Lodge and will definitely plan to stay longer the next time that I go. I was given my own personal guide who was both extremely knowledgeable, who got me into position... More

I had planned a visit to Danum Valley for a while, reading other peoples comments was the incentive to finally check it out. The Field Centre is well set up, and despite everyone touting it as a hard place to get to, and exclusive for scientists, I am convinced that tourists visiting Danum Valley play a big part in Sabahs... I could lay on the lawn and listen to the Gibbons until the end of time. This place is a trick to get to and we booked through Sticky Rice which I'd recommend. They took the hassle out of getting here and having our own guide was worth it. The trouble to get there made it all the more worthwhile.... More

A difficult place to contact via email. In the end we booked through Sticky Rice who were fantastic! The forest is very unique, unfortunately representing a shrinking environment for its inhabitants. We saw numerous monkeys, birdlife pigs, insects and snakes. We were very lucky enough to see an Orangutan on our last day (they had been pretty elusive during the previous... More
