If you don't want to climb Mt Kinabalu, you have to visit at least the park. There are many trails - I think you can spend a week there to hike all. If you start at the trail that starts in front of the park entrance on the left side, than you don't have to pay the entrance fee ;)

We didn’t have time to climb the mountain so decided to do a day hiking in the park and chose the Liwagu trail. The minibus was MYR 20 each way to the park, and it was MYR 15 entrance. Great views on the drive up, but once we started the trail, most views were obscured. The forest half of the... More

I couldn't help but be amazed of the view of Mt Kinabalu from the park! The rocky peak looked really treacherous and beautiful at the same time. Plus I loved the cold temperature!

There is nothing much to do here. We visited the exhibition gallery which shows the plants, animals and rocks found in the kinabalu region. Then we visit the botanical garden which is a normal garden. Nothing great to note except the cool feeling of being 1500m above sea level.

Amazing Borneo were very helpful with all aspects of the trip, the park guide that accompanied us, Joe, was just excellent. The hike was very hard and the rest huts were basic with only cold showers, the food was more than adequate. The 2 am assent to the summit was very challenging, using ropes to climb, sheer drops at times... More

We didn't spend as long here as we had hoped as the weather was against us, as a result we didn't see as many exotic birds as we had hoped. It was still an enjoyable day trip though and the plants are beautiful. We were fortunate to get to see a Raflesia flower and bud while we were out.
