Good place for watching local life

OK place for watching the busy street life of George Town. Busy, noizy and unfamiliar smells. Good selection of shops and restaurants as everywhere in George Town.

Great street for some history, food, souvenirs, and a starting point to the whole Georgetown area. Close to Armenian Street and Kimberely Street.

We hired a rickshaw for the day and our driver took us around this street. It was great seeing everyone carrying on with their daily life. They have great temples and some interesting looking shops and restaurants.

Cannon Street crosses with Armenian Street. Big cat art and a beautiful mosque at the end of Cannon Street. Be sure not to sit on the chair coming out of the wall with the little boy stretching as it's only held up by a couple of rusty nails...and a sewerage drain run is below it. Just a tip to stop... After visiting Armenian Street you will fall upon this street, nice temple on it to look at, you can grab a rikshaw here as well if you are feeling a little tired. You can also get onto the Heritage trail from this street as well which is ok but well spread out.

A nice street to walk on with lots of shops around and lots to see and buy gifts, the total walk wont be more than 20 to 30 mins. You can see street art on some walls too. you see Rickshaws there and can take pics too

I recommend this place for walking as there are many historical buildings and street art to see. Bring your camera along because I guarantee you that there would be a lot of photo taking with your loved ones or friends.

I was in Penang for two nights with my wife. After our busy day, we took long walks around the area and ended up at Cannon Street. It's definitely a nice environment to take walks and to just relax in the evenings. I really appreciated the architecture as well as it was very different to my home country and something... More

No cannons in Cannon street, just like there are no Armenians in Armenian street, but the names hint at what the places were meant or used for in earlier days. Cannon street is very much like Armenian street in all other aspects though, with the same mix of clan temple, cafes, street food and art.
