I have been Penang a few times and our guide Ken, still managed to show me places that I have never visited, including Chew's bridge, Little India, Aceh Street etc. It was a really interesting ride around Georgetown.
He shares nuggets of information about Penang that were interesting, and you can ask him questions that will give you an insight to the local life, including all the good street food places. He gives his take on the street food, and it is fun to compare notes from the internet with a local. He shared his favourite Tandoori restaurant Kapitan Restaurant and Penang Assam Laksa place (Air Itam) - hands down the best Penang Assam laksa in the world!
The ride itself was pleasant and generally easy, though I think unsuitable for children younger than 14, as you would have to cycle along short stretches of road. The route itself is generally very safe and there was not any point in time where I was afraid of being hit by traffic. It was really good fun to cycle around town, stop at various street art locations, and have yummy meals at the same time. The roti prata, thosai, puri that we had was yums, and the madras coffee was very interesting. Lunch was great with Char Kway Teow, curry mee and Penang laksa, washed down with a very refreshing drink made of "umbra(?)" (some fruit). To end it all, Ken brought us to the famous chendol stall -- a lovely sweet to end to the sumptuous lunch.
We met up with another couple from the UK during the tour and it was also fun to hear their exciting adventures, hearing about where they come from, and where they are next headed to.
Overall, a pleasant morning ride, a nice leisurely overview of Georgetown, with loads of tips of where to go and what to do to enjoy Penang!
