Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a Malaysian, I am passionate about legendary stories and one of them is 'Lagenda Mahsuri' . So when I visit Langkawi, I did not want to miss the opportunity to visit this tomb. It's great place to take your child to learn the history of Langkawi's legend.

Ticket price is RM7 per entry. Last time I came here is 10 years ago. Now I can see the place as change to be a better place. However, the parking space still limited.
Lot of information, well managed now compared to last time. Lot of information provided. There also got video show inside the museum so you can understand the history of Mahsuri.
Inside the area of traditional house, you can go to one roof area where one band performing old Malay song. For me this band is nice. The singer voice just perfect to Malay old song.
Annoying part - through the entrance door, I think we should be welcome with some traditional music. HOWEVER, they girls who should play the music instrument very busy gossiping and talking to each other!
One more thing..
This is really weird me. Inside the place (after you enter to the building), there got a restroom. The weird part comes when we need to pay if you want to use the restroom!!!! Never expect something like this. We already paid the entrance fee and to use the restroom inside the building also need to pay???!! I know the amount is small but this small thing can be funny matter to tourist especially international tourist. Hope management of this place can take a look on this matter.

We had to pay allmost 150% of the price that locals have to pay. Once inside the only thing you get to see are some crappy souvenirshops, bad maintained concrete and a couple of wooden houses. Not worth the visit and overpriced. If this site is so important for Langkawi than the local gouvernement should carry out major renovation and make entrance free to visitors.

We had to pay to get in, that's ok offcourse but we had to pay more bc we were tourists. The normal price for this attraction is 12RM (already way overpriced I think) but for us the price was 17RM per person. Then came the worst tourist trap we have ever seen; a lot of big and little stores with crappy souvenirs you can buy everywhere and not much to see. The tomb itself needs a refurb and isn't really impressive at all. Besides that, there are some small wooden houses to see and there is a small exhibition but it is not impressive. Just read Wikipedia and you will learn a lot more about Langkawi. The only great thing we saw here was a lovely stray cat that made a lot of cute noises :)
That made our day.
Other then that, a bad experiance and after 10 minutes we left.

This place is a tomb/museum of a princess called Mahsuri. It purports to tell her story about how she was mistreated and wrongly accused of cheating on her husband. The story itself sounds interesting but the museum does not communicate this.
It is probably the worst museum I've ever been to. Staff look at you like you've got two heads, there are weird displays and artefacts and the only thing they seem interested in is selling you tourist type stuff in the big souvenir shop. There are some outdoor areas and some rooms where people play local instruments but none of it ties together. It's all just really odd. I'm very surprised that there aren't more reviewers who feel this way!
Honestly unless you have tons of time to waste don't bother. Personally I would rather explore the natural beauty of the islands mountains, waterfalls and beaches, than go to this place.

Overrated. Nothing at this place except for a tomb. Historically its been said the lady in the tomb (Mahsuri) made a curse that langkawi would be doomed for 7 centuries. Albeit its above 7th century now, it made less development there except of some government maintained fund. Back to the tomb, a ticket to visit this tomb (grave of a dead person) is really not necessary in the first place! There are no any attractions whatsoever nearby as well. Hence i would say one should not put an high expectation to visit this tomb.

This is the place to know about Mahsuri's legends and beyond. Situated in the middle of the island, Mahsuri's Tomb is a place where you can learn more about the mysteries and stories that befall upon the innocent Mahsuri. However...the admission is a bit expensive.

Had lunch just down the road, so thought we would visit this place whilst in the area. Very popular with Malaysian tourists, and struggled to find somewhere to park, but after a while parked up and entered. After the initial ' photo opportunity next to old rickshaw' and weaving way through lots of shops and cafes we reached the tomb, which was quite humble and discrete. More shops and cafes, before several reconstructed Malaysian houses and a museum telling the story of Mahsura (repeatedly). Story is magnificently over acted in an enjoyable video.
Shops and cafes seem to be the main attraction here.

No comment on this spot (the tomb of Mahsuri) because i had the feeling everything was artificial but i still believe langkawi is a tropical jewel not to miss when you are in malaysia.

A beautiful maiden marries a prince and gives birth to a son before prince goes off into war. Evil mother in law plots and gets maiden convicted for adultery. After several attempts to execute the maiden, the evil plotters finally succeed but before she dies, the innocent maiden casts a spell on Langkawi lasting for seven generations. Fortunately, she died in 1819 and we are now in 8th generation, so the island’s spell of bad luck has expired.
The maiden’s grave is here and so are several buildings from that time, which are quite interesting. There is also a well with water that supposedly kept the maiden pretty. However, the exhibition seemed a bit disorganized or even random and the museum section mostly focused on various renditions of the tale of Mahsuri
