Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In January 2022, we drove from Amboseli national park to West Tsavo national park. Close to Lake Chala, we stopped at the fine Lake Chala Curio shop. We bought paintings that were made by the very talentful local young painter. This young painter was very friendly and explained us the meaning of his paintings.
I highly recommend to stop in this shop, selling local handcrafs and paintings at a reasonable price!!!
The painter also sells his paintings inBady's art gallery at Malindi Tourist market

Honestly, if I was not guided by my Kenyan friends I wouldn´t enter this market. I can´t say I felt unsafe but I definitely attracted too much attention and curiosity. I am glad I visited it though. It is bigger than it looks from outside, dark and at some places very dirty. You can find there amazingly big choice of mainly vegetable and fruits but also meat and fish and other staff. I bought there the sweetest bananas ever and heavenly tasting pineapple. Together with the impressive prayers echoing from the nearby church it made an unforgettable impression.

A very large indoor market along the main shopping road in Malindi. Its almost opposite the 7 to 7 shop(buy your crisps and wine here).
Malindi market is owned by some very nice Indian people who are very hospitable. You will get a good price for your souvenirs and they are good quality.(most of them).
Dont buy from the beach sellers they are expensive. Its also a good place to buy your Safari clothing.

Well, take a guide with you, but ideal for shopping, local souvenirs, clothes, shoes, you can bargain as you want, give to Kenya people some money.

We had already been on a tour of Malindi with Abdul from TUNDA TOURS on an earlier occasion but my wife and I wanted to take a walk all round the town on our own. Abdul picked us up and took us to the centre of Malindi where we arranged to meet at a later time. We walked all round the streets completely without any hassle and even went into a bar at centre of the market for a cold beer and a rest (it was about 40 degrees outside!) All the people in the bar were friendly and the prices REALLY cheap. It is perfectly safe to walk around outside - unlike the resorts nobody takes a blind bit of notice unless you speak to them first and then the response is courteous and very friendly. We met up with Abdul in our favourite bar called Baobob which is overlooking Vasco Da Gamma Tower and after a pleasant lunch Abdul took us back to Watamu. A great adventure!

This a tremendous opportunity to really see the authentic village and its people. I wandered through the many many stalls and kept wondering how so many vendors, selling the same items, can compete. A truly fascinating place.
