We visited Falcon Farm at 2:00 pm and Falcon show is at 5:00pm, an early visit, so unable to attend the show.
Had a nice and short visit. Watched many falcons and eagles. Few owls as well. Pleasant visit.

Since the entire region was fully covered with snow, the Falcon show was not possible but it was a different experience altogether. We were fortunate to meet a trainer who displayed a young falcon that was under his training and how these birds are taught to hunt and retrieve for their masters. Apart from birds, there are hunting dogs, racing dogs which are trained and sold

We had a good time at the bird (falcons, hawks, eagles, owls, vultures) training show (we paid 1900 KZT pp).
The trainer Paul speaks good english, russian and german and makes an entertaining show (about half hour). He and his assistant wear traditional costumes and show and explain every birds features and habits individually. The birds come really close and you can also take pictures with them.
It is easy to reach taking bus 28 from presidential Park to the park gate. The show is every day at 5 pm, except mondays.
They also have a wolf, dogs, horses and many birds, which you can watch before/after the show. But the highlight is the show :-)

Lead trainer Paul's corny sense of humor complements the interesting background he provides on the ancient art of falconry still practiced by Central Asian nomads.

He and his assistant cover training techniques using several birds who occasionally swoop low over the audience; an impressive fly-by. Was well worth the visit.

The show is at 5PM every day except Saturday. We have seen falcon and eagle hunting displays in England, Mongolia and Emirates, but this one is by far superior! The chief trainer “Paul”, in addition to his knack with the birds, has a tremendous sense of humor and he makes the show very entertaining. His sidekick who sometimes comes on “stage” on his horse has a perfect angry-Mongol-invader aspect. Paul starts with a tiny owl, moves on to the largest owl, then a saker falcon, a golden eagle, a fish eagle and finally a vulture. They all do different things. The show is over in half an hour and leaves you wanting more! Don’t miss it!

The Falcon Show is the best we have seen, and the Handler - Paul is amazing with his treatment of these large magnificent birds. Maria his assistant and student is a great addition to the team.

This man spoke in English, Russian and Kazakh and everyone was laughing! He showed us the biggest/smallest of all the local animals including owls and falcons! He demonstrated how the birds catch their prey and had the birds fly right over our heads so we could witness the SPEED of these amazing birds! Highly recommend this!

Sunkar was originally established to protect the saker falcon, whose numbers dropped alarmingly in the ’80s and ’90s, when a thriving market developed to export the birds to Arabia for big money. Habitat degradation and the impact of agrochemicals are other big issues confronting almost all birds of prey in Kazakhstan. Now a breeding project to release birds back into the wild releases golden eagles and Saker falcons. The rescued raptor birds can't be released back into the wild and kept in these cages. The Falcon show entrance fee was 2500 Tenge and the show started punctually at 1700 hrs.The Handler/Trainer Mr Paul.Pfander was amusing and excellent also surprising us with a few words of Hindi realizing that most of the spectators were Indian tourists.I thought i knew a lot about raptors through reading but in Almaty realized i was theoretically a genius while practically a duffer regarding knowledge of these amazing birds of prey .The show lasted just half an hour but those few minutes banished all my ignorance on "Bird's of Prey".

This facility trains birds of prey for hunting in the traditional manner. The ringmaster Paul speaks several languages together with good English. He brings out several large and small raptors for an entertaining program.

The show in the little arena of the Falcon Farm was extremely entertaining and informative. The host - who was a very amusing entertainer - brought out 6 or 7 different raptors that perched on his leather glove. He fed most of them as we watched. He was assisted by a Kazakh horseman who also handled the eagle. It was a very impressive cultural experience for city people from the US. We were with a Road Scholar trip through The Stans, so I'm not sure if the same show is given to other groups. If you have the opportunity, see it!
