Going around the station is a bit nightmare. It’s difficult to find a way to get to a destination. Even directions around the station don’t provide right way. To find a restaurant in the basement, I was walking around for 20 minuets.

JR and Shinkansen stations with lots of little shops and restaurants. There are also two small department stores attached to the station on either ends.

Sendai station is large but easy to navigate with very clear signs. It has a tourist information centre and an excellent range of shops including plenty of cafes that we enjoyed browsing in while waiting for the train.

If you have time before getting on the trains, enjoy walking around the S-PAL shopping mall connected to the station. Very nice, as there are lots of local speciality stores, especially the restaurants and souvenir shops. For more on Sendai, check hiddenjapanguide.com

Richmond Hotel Premier Sendai is almost across the street from the station and is very close to shops and restaurants, reasonably priced business hotel, don't expect large rooms.
