Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We just loved the ferry services on the Inland Sea. We travelled from Naoshima to Takamatsu, to Kusakabe on Shodoshima. Then we got a ride from our host to Fukuda port. There is hardly any services for food at the port, but on the boat, everyone was racing for the noodle soup. the ride on the ferry was smooth and comfortable. Arriving in Himeiji, the city bus is right in front of the port .

An efficient operation. Tickets were easy to purchase, ferry left as advertised and trip was smooth and hassle free.

Boarded the Shikoku ferry between Takamatsu and Shodoshima. It was such a very big ferry that provided such an outstanding view of the islands while we sailed for an hour.

We arrived in Takamatsu by bus from Matsuyama, and went straight from the bus station to the ferry, an easy walk. We did go up via escalator onto a walkway to make it across the major road, and then down again at the ferry dock at the port. There are signs. This was the schedule that was available in April 2018.

We went to Naoshima, and it was a very comfortable ride. We had heavy suitcases, and it was good to be able to go up to the guest level on the elevator. Just ask. There were quite a few using the elevator - Moms with strollers and a person on crutches.

It is smart to have a return ticket, just to make sure you will make the last boat if you are staying for the day.

Fun trip! Beautiful view on sunny days. Mystical view on rainy ones.

Like nearly every visitor to Takamatsu we wantedto take a ferry from over to Naoshima. One word of warning, there are touts working around the harbour trying to get business for the smaller boats which also run to Naoshima. These smaller boats are half an hour quicker, but cost twice the price - they are also very small and feel very vulnerable on higher waves.
Having taken a small boat over, I was determined to take only a car ferry back. Car ferries are great - clean, comfortable, great onboard facilities (vending machines and tv), on time, and run every two hours back to Takamatsu through till 5pm.

Great journey! The ferry was clean and comfortable. Sun deck is great to sit on and watch the islands go by.

There are more than 4 ports at shodoshima, some ports have frequent ferry Service, some not, need check carefully. Ferry port and fast boats port are different, need to pay extra attention. We bought 3 days pass, just show when you board, no need to book. During festival season single ticket sold out we saw this twice, but with pass you can still board but also need to arrive at boarding line early, even with the pass you can not book seat in advance, all seats are free seating. Pass really give us lots of convenience.

This ferry is a bit old, especially compared to the other ferries leaving Takamatsu Port to the Setouchi Islands, but it'll get you to Uno Port in about an hour, which is what you'll expect from it.
Approaching Naoshima (but remember, this is not the ferry to Naoshima), you'll get a nice view of Benesse Art Site (Benesse House, Lee Ufan Museum and Chichu Museum).

We had a very relaxing trip on the very modern Shikoku Ferry, our bus drove on and we went up top for a very smooth trip. There are drink vending machines as well as food to purchase.
You can sit inside or outside and watch the world go by, just a pleasant experience.

The Seto Inland Sea is tremendously calm most of the year. Also, you will see virtually no garbage floating around or see much in the way that will disturb the pristine views all around. It is wonderful to go and visit the islands, and there is much to see. And taking the ferry, feeling the wind on your face, and seeing the light on the water just makes everything so much better. Also, the prices are unbelievably cheap!
