Book the boat and see the whirlpool wave timing in advance. It really worth seeing. For one who easily feel dizzy, go for the big boat as they are 2 options.

I went to see them at the end of December. I've heard they're larger in the spring or autumn, but in the winter they're rather small and I only caught a few eddies by the side of the boat.

The whirlpools are best viewed at high or low tide which varies daily. You view the rushing water and whirlpools from the Onaruto bridge which is 450 meters above the water. The rushing water is definitely impressive and the viewing is good from the glassed...More

I have been to Naruto many times, and have yet to see the giant whirlpools featured in advertisements. However, the tide formations are very fascinating, making swirls and ripples that are rather hypnotic to watch. It is fun to go out in a boat to...More

The first thing that hits you when you get close to the viewing site is how windy it is there...so very windy...breathtakingly so...literally. It's a few minutes walk along the pedestrian platform under the bridge (links Shikoku to Awaji island) until you get to the...More
