We took the Yui Rail and walked to this place. An interesting place to learn about the history of Okinawa, especially its connection to the neighboring countries such as Japan and China. Be prepared to walk a lot if one wants to explore the place...More

I have been here twice. First time in the early morning (a few years ago), and the temperature was just right. Second time I came here around 14:30 and it was really hot. So I suggest coming here at morning or sunset. The castle is...More

A restored castle from the Ryukyu dynasty. There are a lot of Chinese influences. The gardens are worth looking around. Go early during the peak season because there is little parking.

Go all the way to Naha to find it’s under reconstruction! Surroundings are nice but populated with signs warning of snakes !

Interesting history and design, but at the time of my visit renovation works were being done and the main building was mostly covered and was impossible to appreciate it fully nor take a good picture of it. Kind of disappointing. Otherwise, worth a visit.

As you know, this castle is the royal castle of Ryukyu dynasty and it is the centerpiece of the current Naha tourism. Regardless of weekdays or holidays, I don't know when it is not crowded with tourists. Because the main building(Sei-den) is...More

Wife and I visited Shurijo Castle in the Spring. We were able to find pay parking across the street close to the entrance. It was very crowded with hundreds of school students but that made it all the more enjoyable. The Castle is well preserved...More

A must visit place in the city of Naha. You may spend 2-3 hours to cover the castle, exhibition and the park. The exhibition tell the story of the ryukyu kingdom as well as the restoration of the castle and the art of lacquer.
