These eight boiling pools resulting from volcanic activity have varying characteristics: one is blood-red in color due to its red clay deposits, another has the largest geyser in Japan, and still another is used for breeding crocodiles.

The hot springs are interesting to look at, for sure. Didn't do all 8 of the Hell Springs since after a while it seemed repetitive (even though they had different colors and features).

We bought the ticket pack to visit all the 7 participating "hells". It was interesting. Enjoyed the foot bath in some of the "hells"...

This small has many different hot springs or Hells as they are called here. Each one has a different color or characteristic, so it's fun to visit all of them.

かまど地獄 first to go, most worth for site seeing, then Ocean, then Red Blood, but if you want to go all the Hells, buy the whole set tickets first.

If your in Beppu this is a must to see. If coming to Beppu just for this and not staying at a Onsen than maybe not. But if staying at onsen and coming to see this than definitely worth it

We visit only the 1st one nice to see but not more then that. Also they are busy with building construction work and many of the Garden routes are closed.

We bought the pass included admission of the 7 hells at 2000yen (admission of each costs 400yen). If you don't have enough time I suggest you can go some of it as some are in smaller scale. Most recommended the 海地獄,血池地獄 and 龍卷地獄.
