Here in Aoshima Shrine, which is called Kamonarigu "Kamotsukunomiya" in the Kojiki and is said to be the home of the sea god people such as Toyotama-hime-no-mikoto and her sister Tamayori-hime-no-mikoto, it is said that it is the name given to the duck to visit in winter, by the way, one of the main enshrined deities "Hikobi Hidemi-no-mikoto" is Yamahiko, not Umihiko!
This is my second visit since January 20, 2018,
This time my wife and I visited Udo Shrine on New Year’s Eve when we embarked on a car trip around Jingu Shrine in Kyushu from the end of 2024 to the beginning of 2025.
Before and after crossing over to Qingdao, it was very strong, but I was able to pray peacefully in the temple grounds because I could not feel the wind.
As a side note, when I said Qingdao, I was reminded of Green Island in Cairns, Australia, both of which were surrounded by sandy beaches and beautiful seas made of shattered shells!

Aoshima is a popular spot about 15 minutes from the airport.
Recently, it has been known for mangoes and charcoal grilled yakitori.
In the past, the only things I remember are the Oni no Sentaku Iwa and the palm tree street.
It was next to the Oni no Sentaku Iwa.
There were various paid parking lots and souvenir shop parking lots, but I had no information,
so I parked in the Aoshima Station parking lot, which was empty on a weekday, and walked a few hundred meters.
There were many restaurants and other establishments on the way to the bridge, so it was a fun walk.
Crossing the sea on the bridge, walking along the Oni no Sentaku Iwa, there was a torii gate in the middle of the island,
and it felt like a shrine in a resort.
In the precincts, there were various tables for fortune-telling,
and charms were sold not only in the shrine office but also on tables, so it felt like a festival.
A dignified atmosphere surrounded by forest.
It was far from the image of a power spot.
It felt like a cheerful southern god next to the white sandy beach by the sea.
From the shrine grounds, the view of the white sand beach, blue sea, and blue sky beyond the torii gate is beautiful. I wanted to take some photos, but there were so many people that it seemed impossible unless I went early in the morning.

We stopped here on our do it yourself bus trip around the Nichinan coast.
The walk from the bus stop to the shrine crosses the causeway to the island and passes the Devil’s washboard stone formations on the beach. If you walk at a leisurely pace taking photos you can get to the shrine in 15 to 20 minutes.
As you approach the shrine, you first come upon red torii. There was much activity the day we visited the shrine - a crew was filming an advertisement with several fellows dressed in anime costumes near the entrance and a wedding was taking place within the shrine. Since visiting the shrine brings luck in marriage to couples who visit, it is fitting that we saw a wedding there.
The shrine itself is surrounded by jungly vegetation. Beside the main shrine is a small path through even denser tropical plants with an overhanging canopy to a smaller red shrine where pilgrims pray for good luck.

On the way to the shrine, there are stalls selling local specialities like mango ice-cream and pork rice ball. After passing these stalls, there are also magnificent views of the ocean and devil's washboard (interesting rock formation). During low tide in the afternoon, you can walk down to see the devil's washboard up close. Along the beach, there are also a few stalls selling souvenirs like heart-shaped seashells. The shrine itself is of course beautiful as well. There are various ways of making wishes, such as writing a wish and hanging the wooden block up, or throwing a plate into a designated area. You can probably spend 1 to 2 hours here.
From Miyazaki Station, you can take bus 965 to Aoshima. The ride lasts 45 minutes and costs 720 yen. From the bus stop, cross the bridge to get to Aoshima Shrine. There is also a return bus to Miyazaki Station. You can consider buying a 500 yen whole day bus pass from the Miyazaki Station Information Centre beforehand, but take note that this bus pass is only available to non-Japanese tourists and you have to show your passports as proof. Alternatively, from Miyazaki Station, you can take a JR train to Aoshima. From Aoshima Station, walk along the left path, climb the overhead bridge, then cross the bridge to get to Aoshima Shrine.

The shrines on Aoshima Island are a very mystic place. On the island there is a Shinto shrines and several views of the Pacific Ocean is incomparably beautiful. By the flora and fauna the Shinto shrines offer a tropical-sounding flair. You feel like in another world and forget the world around them. This island can really be described as magical and everyone should take the opportunity to visit this mystical island once in his life.

Visited Aoshima Shrine on on 28th October. It's a fascinating place, very close to Miyazaki & with easy access. It's also a very scenic spot. We visited with local friends, so had the benefit of someone being able to interpret for us. While there was some signage & interpretation in English, like much of Japan it was limited - so it is a good idea to use sources such as Trip Advisor & Google to get some additional context before visiting.

The location of this shrine is at Aoshima Island which was linked by bridge to Aoshima area. There was little worth mentioning about this shrine except you need for pay for toilet services.

I came to Aoshima for the Aoshima Shrine in early October.
The view was very beautiful, definitely worth your time to drop by for a photoshoot or simply just to enjoy the scenery.
However, as my title mentioned, it does gets a little hot during the morning and afternoon period as there was little shelter. However, that is only because i came during the hotter season, and if you were to come during a cooler season, this is definitely more comfortable and worth it.
