Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best place to get the closest view of Sakurajima.
A bit disappointing if you've already seen Asosan (where you can get very close to the volcano), but considering the conditions of Sakurajima this is still good.
Otherwise there isn't much to do here. There's a reason why the Sakurajima hop-on-hop-off bus stops here for about ten minutes. By then everyone has seen what they want

This is the best observation point on Sakurajima. You can go up the stairs from the general parking lot. You can see the magnificent volcanic peak of Sakurajima up close, and you will be overwhelmed by the power of the volcano. We also recommend looking from the second floor of the observation terrace. You can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view. There is also a souvenir shop and a snack corner on the first floor of the terrace, which is convenient.

This place offers a top of the world experience. You need to pray for good wind direction so that the ashes from the volcano is not blowing towards you! Else you will be shrouded with ashes and no view!

At the top of the Sakurajima mountains is the Yunohira lookout which provides beautiful panoramic views of Kagoshima and the base of the Sakurajima mountains. This is one of the must stops for any bus or car tour of Kagoshima. Provides stunning opportunities for photos and will be the highlight of your day on Sakurajima.

The bus will stop here for 15-20 mins, so everyone could go up to the observatory and have look at Sakurajima and Kagoshima city on another side. It'd be more beautiful if I went there on a clear sky day, anyway, it's still fantastic.

If you are here for a quick visit, you should be lucky for the eruption.
Unless, it's simply a good mountain view.
Arimura Lava Observatory on the other side is a good place to watch the view as well.

You can see the mountain and Kagoshima city.
Good view, but the lookout is not a must,
because it is just another view point.
So I recommend that
you take a walk at the seaside near the visitor center
and see the view, if you don't have much time at the island.
To go to Yunohira Lookout, you have to take a bus(500yen).

A must experience when here . The view is spectacular and not only is the volcano site awesome it’s blowing smoke continuously. And the city view is also amazing. Easy access and not typically crowded.

I was there in early December while the weather was cloudy. The lookout was very windy and cold in the obserrvation deck but the view was superb in view of its location.

The third and final stop at an observation point during the 1 hour roundtrip with the Sakurajima Island View Bus. Probably due to the presence of a souvenir shop you are allowed to stay here 15 minutes before you have to board the bus again.
The observation point is the closest one to the three peaks of Sakurajima. When I was there unfortunately the wind direction was towards this observation point so the view was a bit limited by the volcanic ash/sand which was being erupted from Sakurajima.
