Pick up a 3-day pass to access city buses and the ferry across to Sakurajima. The ferry runs every 15 minutes and take just 10 minutes to cross. Take the bus tour up to the volcano viewing platform.

We took a ferry (with the rental car on it) from the Kagoshima ferry port to Sakurajima. The weather was cloudy with occasional rain but we were excited as this volcano island is so famous and it once caused air traffic trouble several years ago,...More

Lots to see if the weather is clear. The visitors centre is very informative. Caught the view bus up to the observatories. Watch out for the departure time. We had to wait an hour for the next bus, because I was not paying attention.

We drove onto the ferry which was very easy and drove off at Sukurajima where you pay. We drove up to the observatory, great views.

The Sakurajima volcano is great & huge. You can see the volcano from the city. The foot hot spring can try it near the tourist center. That's several tourism points can easy to reach if you drive

We went here on a shore excursion for a cruise. You have to take a ferry boat to get to the island and then a bus. There are nice trails and a small visitor center as well as some vendors selling huge vegetables and souvenirs....More

We drove and rode Sakurajima ferry in 2015. Sakurajima ferry has no ticket. When you ride Sakurajima ferry by car, enter the manned fare gate and pay by cash. On arriving at the city port, just leave the ferry. From the city... More
