In addition to going to Itoshima during this trip to Fukuoka,
A trip to the island was also arranged.
#诺古岛 is a resort full of greenery and far away from the hustle and bustle.
You can take a ferry from Meigahama Ferry Station to Nokojima Ferry Station, which takes about 10 minutes.
Then take the Nishitetsu Bus "To Island Park" to reach your destination.
#Nokojima Island Park is a well-known flower viewing spot in Fukuoka.
Because there are different flowers here throughout the year.
In addition to flower viewing, there are also restaurants and shops here.
Some of the facilities are specially designed for children.
There is also a mini zoo in the park, including rabbits and goats.
📷Continue walking towards the sea and you will see a vast grassland and sea view.
There are also many check-in spots in this area, such as the swing overlooking the sea, where you can take good-looking photos.
If you want to buy souvenirs,
There is a shop selling merchandise at the entrance of the park.
You can reserve some time to stroll around while waiting for the bus back to the pier.

Visited Nokonoshima island for cycling with a small group and for camping. It is a quick escape from the city with a ferryboat from Meinohama Ferry Terminal. The park at the top of the island has beautiful flower gardens and nice cafes.

We wanted a getaway from the city life in Fukuoka and Nokonoshima Island came to mind.
From Gion Station in Hakata, we took the train and alighted at Meinohama Station in under 20
minutes. From there just walk out and hop on another bus to the Meinohama ferry port.
Alternatively take bus number 312 to the ferry port directly. But service starts from 9+ onwards.
Ferry service took under 15 minutes to reach the beautiful island. You can rent a bicycle to cycle around the island but certain places are out of bounds to cyclists. So we rented a bike to cycle to Island Park which is all the way to the northern tip of the island. ¥1000 yen for the whole day.
It was a peaceful and tranquil ride but it's mostly upslope all the way. We ended up pushing the bike on steeper slopes. The map wasn't very well signposted for the cycling route. So we gave up thinking it was a long way to go.
The ride down was lovely as we didn't have to peddle at all. Stopped by the ferry area for ice cream inside the small restaurant. Never had such creamy and refreshing ice cream. The texture felt like powdered snow. The Noko burger was freshly made with juicy beef sandwiches between two light and soft buns. Those elderly aunties are very friendly and try to understand our limited "sumimasen wakanimasen"
Only grouse we had was that the time table printed on the tourist map was inaccurate. Missed the bus to Island Park and had to take a taxi instead.
Once inside the park, the landscaping took our breadth away. It was the season of hydrangeas. Even the trees were well trimmed.
We walked towards the feeding area for rabbits and goats and saw lovely wild flowers on a slope. It's like gerberras bursting with a myriad of colours, overlooking the deep blue sea.
There's even a swing made from bamboo poles, sturdy enough for adults to have a go at it! Totally relaxing for the mind and great day out for family with toddlers and teenagers!
Reward yourself with a bowl of piping hot beef udon, situated in a tranquil environment. If time permits, there's a clay making and painting place nearby.
You can stretch your trip by going to the beach which we missed. Ran all the way down fr Island park to the ferry point to catch the ferry back to mainland.
Lovely day trip for family and couples. Make sure you plan your transport connection well as the interval between each bus and ferry ride can be an hour apart.

We took the bus from Hakata Station. It was about an hour ride to the last stop, which was Noko Port. We took the ferry over (about 10 mins) and biked around the island. It was deserted, which was great. We were the only ones in the Island Park.
Had an excellent meal at the sashimi place right across the street from where you catch the ferry.

We took the 10 minute Rainbow Ferry across. The weather was good and we sat outside enjoying the cold breeze. We arrived after noon and had a wonderful lunch at Noko-iso. We then took the public bus which runs every hour up to the Island Park. We decided not to go I and instead took the trail down. It was 2.8km. The trail is surprisingly easy to walk and very pleasant. The path is well-paved and we walked through Contemplation forest.. Lots of bamboo and dried leaves along the way.. It was mostly downhill and it took us approximately 90 minutes. We missed the 3pm ferry and had the most delicious cold crabs at Zakko Japanese Restaurant with sake and their local fizzy drink. We took the 4pm ferry. It was a very civilized island and walking down gave us beautiful views.

The ferry over is cheap, but if you want to enjoy the island (and go to the park), the entrance fee is steep. Fantastic views, fantastic flowers, places to eat. Lots of local families come to hang out here. Nice bike/walk paths too.

While in Fukuoka I wanted to go to Nokonshima Island just to explore more of the city. Arriving here was easy, so don't let the fact that it is an island scare you away from visiting. Prior to coming, I researched how to get here. From Tenjin Station I took the subway a few stops to Meinohama Station and then walked from there to the ferry terminal. The ferry ride was about ten minutes and was cheap. I took the bus to the park on the island, but will leave that for another review. Outside of the park, there are other attractions to explore. Near the ferry terminal on the island are a few shops and places to get snacks. I got a map of the island and walked to the Mongolian Tombs, honestly they were not worth the walk, there was not much to see and no explanation. On my way to the ferry terminal from the tombs, I stopped at two shrines, both were very much worthwhile. I really enjoyed walking the small streets here and seeing what life is like outside the city. I recommend grabbing an island map, seeing the park, and exploring some of the other sites.

If you want to relax and have a little picnic, you can visit the park and just enjoy the beauty of nature.
Entrance fee is ¥1200. Ferry to the Island costs ¥230 and bus going up to the island park is another ¥230. Ferry going to the island has hourly schedule, we took the 1015am to the island and went back by 2PM. Restaurant in the island park is not overpriced. Redbean bun is a must try!
Right now the canola flower field is in full bloom and cherry tress has started to bloom as well. We visited March 23, 2019.
To go to Noko Tosenba ferry, go to Hakata Bus Terminal A and take 300, 301, 302, 304 fare is ¥430 one way.

This is a pretty island with well pruned gardens and lots of pretty flowers! There is also an animal petting farm (sheep, chicken, rabbits). It is a great pretty and relaxing place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Fukuoka city. It is located on top of a hill, so we had to walk down abit of a steep hill then the rest is quite easy walking. Great views at the end of the island, where you can see the sea and also the nice view of flowers in front of it adds to the great touch. There are also chalets located in the island, but we did not stay in the chalet as a half day trip is sufficient to cover the island. Lots of pretty flowers (there are seasonal flowers all year round) and pretty pruned Japanese trees. Was well worth the trip.
How to get there : Board the subway in Hakata to Meinohama Station, take the Nishiitetsu Bus no. 98 to Nokonoshima Ferry Terminal. The bus to the island is located just outside the ferry terminal, just follow the crowds (it is to the left from the ferry terminal exit). There are some small stalls selling flowers, fruits and some vegetables just next to the ferry terminal station. Do check the time that the bus from Nokonoshima island leaves for the ferry terminal station so you can time how much time to spend in the island/park.
Highly recommend this place, it is not crowded and is really relaxing and pretty place!
