Lots of walking from the station to find deer food. However, it was really fun feeding them and taking pictures. Recommend not listening too Google directions, just look where everyone else is going and follow them. They are sweet deer

Definitely a must go place when visiting Nara! Friendly and you can feed them! They surprisingly don’t stink either and super soft.

Autumn is a good time to visit Nara Park. While the place is swarmed by a lot of tourists, the grounds are kept constantly clean. The Information Counter by the Subway Station was very helpful. The staff spoke good English and answered questions well. There's...More

This is a very ancient park that houses the Todai temple (Todai-ji) that dates back to the 1300s. Buddhists long ago saw some deers roaming in the court yard and viewed it as a sign of eternal peace and have left them to roam freely...More

It gets very crowded here as this park is a very popular tourist attraction. We saw some tourists feeding the deers with biscuits. Once they started feeding, the deers follow them around.

Nara park is much larger than I have expected and definitely above my wildest expectation. Make sure that you have good walking shoes and an umbrella. So, many temples and shrines to see.

The day we went it was very rainy, so a bit miserable - a sunnier day would've made it more enjoyable as there are a lot of grass areas that we could've sat on and had lunch. The deer here are much more friendly then...More

Cafe de nature is a decent little restaurant just opposite to the museum. Food is nice and a decent lunch is just around 1000 yen. The address is 59 Noboriojicho, Nara.

You could probably cycle to the various park entrances but not through the park itself. Too many people and deer. Also, didn't see any bike stands.

They are generally out and about, we got caught in the rain and ended up sharing cover with some of them, which was quite an unusual experience.
