Most people are obsessed with feeding the deer and inevitably stepping in poo (even though it's swept away rather promptly). Look beyond that and you'll see amazing gardens and temples. Along the way you can laugh at the fools who are being harassed by the...More

Sad that tourists' behaviours may have resulted the deers to have aggressive nature now. Park has nothing except the deers roaming around after the deer biscuits.

I think this is the only place you can see so many deers walking around at the park. You can go very close with the deer to take photo and feed them. There are some stall selling the deer food (like a thin round cookie)...More

Nara Park offers a close encounter with the deers from the wild. Yes these deers are wild animals and not pet, so be careful when getting close to them. Enjoy the place where people and the deers come together. I still say it’s a must...More

Came early before the crowds came so we had a chance to engage with the friendly deer all of whom looked as if they were hungry! Some were hungry enough to butt us and nose into our pockets. The park is pretty and large. After...More

Although lovely, the weekend was very crowded. Maybe better on a weekday? The good thing about it is proximity and ease from railway station.

Take a bus from JR Nara Station, a short drive bring us to this park, beautiful scene in autumn, with red momiji and yellow ginkgo leaves. Many shops around selling souvenirs, delicious ice cream, food, and cookies (price:150 Yen) to feed the deers around the...More

Nara is a beautiful area with lots of tame, friendly deer. They can get a bit pushy when you have food out, so just be aware of that. They are taught to "bow" before getting food, so don't mistake this for them getting ready to...More
