This is also known to be a main landmark and the symbol of Nara with a great history that runs way back to 730... More

Beautiful area where there are a few things to see. You have the shrine with the bell Nanendo on one side and the main Kofukuji Temple and the five Tiered pagoda on the other. Really amazing wooden structures that just look so old. The Pagoda was very impressive, large and stable.

It's connected to the park and peaceful. There's some buildings close by each other. Could be crowded with tourist during weekend.

Nice temple, main part is for free. There are some paid sections. Take a walk around and enjoy your stay!

The main temple site is still covered up for construction/renovation while the 5-storeyed pagoda, museum and the Gold Hall are open for visitors. Some treasures and large buddha are housed inside the Gold Hall but the entrance fee seems to be on the high side. So we just took some pictures from outside and leave for other spots in the... The main hall houses the impressive statue of the Buddha and 2 bodhisattvas. Very inspiring but the treasure hall's Kannon statue is even more breathtaking.
