A fairly large pond at the end of Sanjo Dori. It is a very photogenic area so a nice area to just walk around. They also have a small multi tiered pagoda near the lake side. Although not in Nara park there are still some deer who manage to get here.

Nice pond to walk past on you way to or back from Kofuku-ji Temple. Always lots of ducks and ducklings to see here. There is also a great noodle spot on the corner.

Sarusawa-ike is a water pond located halfway from Nara JR Station to Kofukuji Temple. It can be used as a resting location for tourists in the area where some shops and cafes are nearby. Occasionally, you can find turtles in the pond and worth to take a few photos on it. Not a must-see spot for visitors to Nara.

This pond near the edge of the historic precincts of Nara is not a must-see but it does have an historic pagoda as a backdrop, making it a very peaceful place to stop for a drink or sit in the park. There are lots of people walking and sitting here in good weather. There are also some turtles in the... More

Do sit down by the pond under the trees to get some shade on a sunny day and maybe mingle with the locals. You get beautiful views towards the Kofukuji. There are turtles in the pond also to keep you interested.

Sarusawa Pond is located beside Kofukuji Temple, and many tourists passes by. The water is not really clean, but you can find some fish and tortoises here. It is a good place to take a rest.

A large pond situated between Nara Park and the Naramachi area. Some nice views can be had whilst sitting and relaxing for a little while. Try and spot the many small turtles that live in the pond.

Since it's located near Kofukuji you will pass by if you take the average route to see Nara. But there are places that are much more worth to spend time at. Pond so it's nice but really nothing special.

Relaxing lake before entering Nara Park tourist craziness!! I remember there being some ducks ... it was a nice little lake to check out when walking around.

I sat by this pond for hours, feeding the turtles and enjoying the scenery. A great break from temple-hopping and gift shopping.
