Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Begin at the giant torii on street level and climb up a very long, steep set of stairs to approach the entrance gate to shrine. Before you get to this, there are lanterns and statues off to the side and another smaller temple awaits you.
Back to the stairs for the final ascent. The temple compound has all the requisite buildings typical of shrines, along with the torii tunnel to an inari shrine to one side of the main hall.
There is a small covered arcade with benches where several local mothers with children were enjoying a beverage and popcorn which they were feeding to the birds.
It was sakura season when we visited and there were a few lovely, large trees in bloom.
When we finished our visit, we took a different set of stairs down, which was more fluid and followed a meandering route down the hillside.

This ancient shrine is in middle of city, and is pretty peaceful as well.
Need to climb a few stairs to reach the top, isnt much of a problem for anyone with average health.
The compound is also beautiful ,worth spending sometime here.

On a recent business trip to utsunomiya I had a spare hour and walked over to this shrine. It was a wonderful place and an easy walk from the train station.
We were fortunate to see this place during the Sakura, but it would be a great place to visit no matter what time of year.

When in the city the shrine is worth a visit. Most shrines have the same layout and still are different in a hard to describe way.
We enjoyed walking the grounds and observe the worshippers.

Japan is one of the most advanced country and technological advancements can make you feel dumbfounded however it is also a traditional society and shrines are part of those traditions.
This shrine is quite a place, very near to Utsunomiya Station, one can spend time observing or getting spiritual won't be too far. Beautiful and quite place.

Located right in the middle of Utsunomiya's main city strip and surrounded by office buildings and shops, lies this gem.
There's a massive Torii gate right at the front so you can't miss it from the street - scale the steps and reach the temple at the top for a bit of nirvana.
Nice pleasant temple worth visiting if you're in the area.

A nice place to visit after shopping downtown.
The plaza down from the shrine is always used for all kinds of fun events.

The shrine has a nice looking entrance, there is a relatively steep set of stairs up to the main shrine. The shrine itself is good looking and very peaceful.
