Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was a bit tricky as bus dropped us off we found no sign as to where to go but eventually following people we worked it out. Lovely spot and the building is spectacular in its quality.

The audio guide is amazingly advanced (I won't spoil the surprise!) and extremely helpful. It helped us look out for numerous little details at Yomeimon and explained the stories and meanings behind them. Amazing amount of intricate details at this gate. Highly recommend if you are in Nikko.

One of the most beautiful temple gates we’ve seen in Japan. So many carvings and wonderful paintings. Impossible not to take it multiple times in photos to try catch all the different details

this one of the most important temple and part world heritage.
The gate of the temple is beautifully design to pay respect to Tokugawa Iyasu (the shogun who united Japan).
the entrace ticket is 1.300 yen.
English Audio guide also available for 500 yen.
you can buy ticket online cos during weekend there will be long que. or you can pay with pasmo or suica.

This is a massive gate, very colorful with intricate details on both the front and the back. The gate appears to be newly restored as the paint looked fresh and still not faded.

The gate you will walk through when you visit the Toshogu shrine. Lucky me, the renovation is completed on the gate and I think it's the most beautiful shrine gates in Japan. Look closer and you can see the work is very detail.

The gate itself is not visible due to the restoration underway. However, it is the entrance to the temple complex which is a must see when in Nikko.

Be aware that this gate is not available for viewing as it is being restored and is therefore covered up. This certainly should not discourage anyone from seeing the rest of the buildings around.

Probably the most decorated gate in Japan. Located close to the entrance of Toshogu temple. Truly impressive. Great restoration effort to keep it in this condition.
