A Yokosuka tradition that you cannot miss.

The ferry ridge over is amazing. You can expect to see U.S. Navy and Japanese MSDF ships on the ferry over to the island. From time to time you see sailboats and I've even seen a... read more

We organized a BBQ on the island during summer, we were around 30 people we weren't allowed to take BBQ equipment with us, we had to rent it all from the island, 2000 for the grill, 1000 for 3KG of coal, etc. place was very nice and people enjoyed swimming in the sea we could see Yokohama from the other... I wasn't sure what to expect but we had a blast exploring the Island. As retired military, especially the artillery community, I enjoyed seeing where the historic gun mounts and magazines were located. This is a great experience for history buffs or for anyone who loves to hike or explore.

The ferry ridge over is amazing. You can expect to see U.S. Navy and Japanese MSDF ships on the ferry over to the island. From time to time you see sailboats and I've even seen a paddle boarder. One out on the island it has great views of the area and light recreation. DO NOT MISS THIS CHANCE TO SEE... More

The ferry pier is at Mikasa Park, a 15-minute walk from Keikyu Line's Yokosuka-Chūō Station. Make sure you buy tickets first at a little white trailer behind the souvenir shop. Starting April 1st this year, you must also pay 200 yen on top of the 1300 yen return ferry fare. The line for the 10-minute ferry that leaves once an... More

A short ferry ride to a lovely little island. There were several areas to explore and it was nice to get away from the city. The beach was too crowded to be fun, but the walk and the woods were worth it. The ferry ride was fun as well. Just 1000 yen for a whole afternoon of fun!

Living in Yokosuka has much to offer and one little gem is as easy as taking a short ferry ride to Monkey Island. ¥1000 for a round trip ticket and you can bring a cooler of picnic items to enjoy on the beach there. The hike around the island takes you through tunnels, ruins & is very relaxing. On the... More

It took us about an hour to walk through the heavily wooded remains of a fortress on Monkey island. It was a pleasant but hot and sweaty walk- the woods provided surprisingly little relief from the August heat. But then again, in Japan in August that is to be expected. There were plenty of picnic tables near the beach with... More

A nice, tranquil place to get away from the city without having to go too far, or spend too much. There are many hiking trails, and you can spend time with family or friends, enjoying the water, or the woods.

We had fun riding the big boat to the island and back. We enjoyed hiking through the tunnels and up and down the steps around the island. The beach is small but there is enough place to walk or maybe swim. A lot of people are also enjoying barbecuing and drinking at the beach. My wife and I spent 1500... More

We went with 3 children ranging from age 3-8 on a Saturday. The ferry ride was ¥1300 for adults and ¥650 for our 8 year old. They didn't charge for the younger to 2 although they did advertise prices for them. The ferry to the island leaves on the :30 and :45 on the way back. Bring cash for tickets... More
