浦島太郎の伝説の残るお寺です。幕末にはフランス領事館があったそうです。
境内はひっそりとしていますが、解説版もあり歴史を知ることができます。

近くには浦島という地名もあり、ここが浦島太郎物語のモデルの地と思える場所であり、物語を身近にかんじることができる。

浦島伝説を語る神奈川区七島町「蓮法寺」には横浜市の説明板が、ありますが、もう一つかなり本気モードで伝えているのが「慶運寺」です。境内には浦島太夫・太郎親子の齢塚もあります。亀をかたどったご神体もあります。このあたりには亀住町や竜宮橋と浦島尽くしです。一瞬信じたくなります。

入口に亀の形の石碑があり、幕末にフランス領事館として使われていた印もあります。
そして小さいけれど可憐な花を咲かせる枝垂れ桜があります。
ソメイヨシノよりも早く咲くので、開花を毎年楽しみにしています。
小さいお寺ですが、浦島太郎のお父さんのお墓があるとか。
このお寺は、元々は別の場所にあったそうです。

始まりは、室町時代。芝増上寺三世、定蓮社音誉聖観によって開創。横浜開港の当時、フランス領事館が置かれた寺で、ほか浦島寺とも。
境内に建つ観音堂に浦島観世音が浦島太郎像と乙姫像とともに安置されていました。

JR東神奈川駅から歩いて数分くらいのところにありました。
室町時代に開かれた浄土宗のお寺です。慶運寺は通称「浦島寺」とし知られており、浦島太郎が竜宮城より持ち帰ったと言う観音像などの遺品が保存されています。
横浜開港当初には、フランス領事館として使われた歴史もあると、山門の案合板に書かれていました。

桃太郎伝説は日本各地に点在していますが、とりわけこの神奈川区に多いように思えます。それはともかく、旧フランス領事館の置かれていた寺でもあります。で、山門前に小さな滝の川が流れていてその対岸に浄瀧寺があります。この浄瀧寺にも当時イギリス領事館が置かれていました。そしてその間を流れる滝の川を指さし、｢ドーバー海峡だ！｣といって人々は笑った、という逸話をガイドに教えてもらいました。

寺院脇をJR京浜東北線の電車が通るさほど広くない境内ですが、元フランス領事館にあてるなど由緒あるお寺です。浦島伝説が絶えないこの東神奈川地区、町名にも浦島町があるくらい信憑性を信じてしまいそうです。とりわけこの慶運寺には亀像が至る所に。つい寄ってしまう名所です。

東神奈川駅近くにあるお寺です。
よろこび（慶び）をはこぶ（運ぶ）寺。何とも有難い名前です。
私もご利益をもらいに参拝しました。
私が行った時、ちょうど地元の方（？）と思しき方が掃除をしており、大切にされているんだなーと感じました。

東海道線と京急の線路に囲まれたような場所にあるお寺です。入口に「史跡フランス領事館跡」と刻まれた石碑がありますが、外国との関連が直接感じられるようなものは境内には見当たりませんでした。敷地内に入って少し進んだ右側に、浦島太郎伝説に関連する案内表示があり、解説が詳しく出ているので勉強になります。ぜひ一読されることをお勧めします。境内は緑地はほとんどありませんが、随所に黒松や赤松など立派な植栽が手入れよく配置されているのも印象的でした。
