- sha1955Thorpe Bay, United Kingdom141 contributionsWonderful but no tower ticket needed to view the displayThis was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our visit to Japan. We have given it a five star review because it was such fun and so interesting . Nevertheless, please believe other reviewers. The website is very confusing. A basic admission to the factory does include being able to view the Gundam operate. This is wonderful to see as my photos show. The website does not make it clear that you will be able to see this with a basic admission and do not need to buy the tower viewing ticket. We bought that ticket but didn’t need it. It just means that you go up to the tower and see the robot at close proximity but of course you don’t get the overall effect. Totally unnecessary and no refunds given. The commentary is, of course, only in Japanese. A great little shop and interesting displays.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 November 2023
- Shu KSan Jose, California372 contributionsDefinitely worth a visitIf you grew up with Gundam like I did, you have to go! The show itself is fun, but just know that it’s a giant robot on railings that moves very slowly and in limited ways. But still, when you’re there, you get swept away by the excitement. If you go up to the floor where the cafe is, you can see the show from a different perspective. It’s not worth paying the extra money to get up close, though, because there are glass windows and honestly they did a terrible job giving us a better view of the show you watched from down below. It’s not like you see the inside or get right in front of the head or anything… literally just see the show from a closer but less advantageous vantage point. You see Gundam more of less from behind and everyone crowds around the best spot with their phones. So not worth it. So pay the entrance fee, enjoy the 10 minute show that happens every hour, and buy some souvenirs. I bought my T-shirt there which I cherish.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 25 November 2023
- Khyron82Seattle, Washington1,833 contributionsGround Level View, Good EnoughBought my tickets at the onsite desk with no problem. Missed the first show, but heard it from outside the fence. Thought the 2nd show was better, since they played one of my favorite G-songs, Beyond the Time, when they were resetting the Gundam back to the starting position for the 3rd show. I preferred to see the whole Gundam in view when in motion, rather than a partial close-up view from the gantry tower positions, so saved some money on that. Gundam Cafe patrons have a special viewing section of the upper floor balcony for the show. At the time, the Gundam Shop was limiting how many shoppers could be in the store, and since the queue was long, passed on visiting. There is also an additional exhibit on how they designed and built this Gundam, so it's worth a look-see, if you're not in a hurry to leave.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 21 December 2023
- Single Mum TravelsCanberra, Australia208 contributionsWhat an experience! What a great experience. Unfortunately when we went the dock tower tickets had sold out already for the day and we arrived around 10:30am so I'd suggest to go early if you want those add on tickets. We ate lunch there also, it was pretty tasty and reasonably priced.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 February 2024
- PanddadyGuam, Mariana Islands151 contributionsIt worth a GO, opened till March 2024. (noted 2024.02)One of a kind experience and a only experience. It does not matter if you know Gundam or not. It was great experience. Gundam moves, all the limited version toys. The pictures you could take. They are all very unique and one of a kind. Although there are some parts where you should be careful of. And hope this tips would help. Its located in middle of nowhere. Takes some walk and their cafe are quite expensive. Taking pictures and seeing real size Gundam is sure fun for both fan and non-fans but that's it. Taking picture and seeing reali size gundam. Meaning, unless you like to purchase certain goods or buy limited edition plastic model, it might not worth going or may feel waste of time with so many things to do at Tokyo. Nearby area has Chinatown, Cup Noodle Museum and etc.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 11 February 2024

I recommend going at dusk so you can see the show during daylight and at night. I'm a huge gundam fan. I have seen the 4 1:1 gundams in Japan since the first rx-78 went up in odaiba many years ago. But even for me, this one in yokohama fell short. I think a lot of it has to do with the price of admission.
All the 1:1 gundams are accompanied by a full scaled gundam base with tons of gunpla selection. However, for the yokohama one it's only a satellite and all it sells are the rx-78 related kits. Bland and lack variety.
The moving gundam, although epic, it felt quit gimmicky. It's not on the ground then moving, but more like a structural support comes from the back and holding it into its waist and moves it in mid air like a puppet. Obviously it has real world physics to deal with but it just felt like a giant gunpla on a display stand.
The ticket to go up to the platform is a total ripoff. Don't do it. It costs twice as much as the entrance ticket, plus you still need to buy the entrance ticket so the total experience for just one person is pushing 5,000 yen. The view up top is terrible. If you are not being cramped or obscured by impolite traveller's unwilling to let you have a chance to the front of the glass, then at best you can only see a part of the gundam because you are so close to it. In my opinion the view from the ground to see its full action is much better than going to the top.
It is also quite a bit of ways from major train stations in yokohama, so expect to walk a bit before you get to it, and bring a jacket because it's close to the sea and gets windy.
And finally, rx-78 is getting really boring. I wish they start doing more gundams from other series. Even a zeta would be cool.

The nearest exit is motomachi mirai station and then walked about 10 mins then you will see a park and it actually located inside the park but in the pier next to it. From afar you will see the Gundam factory logo and walking further in will be able to see the moving gundam. The entrance cost 1650 yen and the viewing dock cost 3300 yen. Reach there 11.30am and the viewing dock are sold out so suggest to get it online or be the 1st to reach attraction to get view dock ticket.

I grew up with Transformers, not Gundam. Therefore, I really am not familiar with the Gundam world.
The Gundam Factory Warehouse is quite interesting. How they built the huge robot. Who the technological partners were, and what the design process was. what the technical problems that they could and could not overcome.
The rest of the exhibit was one huge store selling their merchandise.
The cafe was overpriced but did have a great view of the robot. The hot dog and drink were ¥ 1,600. Lots of outdoor deck seating, and large windows - everything was geared toward the robot.
Deck access: It is an extra charge of ¥3,300. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.
You only get a side view. You get to see the robot move from the side which is obstructed with steel I-beams and safety barriers. The 6th-floor view is still obstructed. The mood music and dialogue are all in Japanese.
If you are a Gundam fanboy, this place is worth it.
If you are just a casual fan or want to just experience Japanese culture, go to the factory but don't pay for the extra "special" deck view.

Quite boring actually. Inaccessible by car and this really puzzles me. Such a huge area cordoned off for a bus service and private car can only park a great distance away.
Place sells low grade Gundam, has a overpriced cafe. The robot show is in Japanese and minimal movement. The museum is like a high school science fair. You really need to be a Gundam fan to appreciate this I guess

Allow me to share my memories of Gundam Factory Yokohama, even though the attraction has ended in early 2024.
Without a doubt, this is one of the mosts unusual attractions in Japan in modern times, a testimony to how confident the Japanese are in the global appeal of their pop culture offering. As you would expect, one would enjoy the attraction far, far more if familiar with not just the Gundam stories but also the music from the Animes.
The awe doesn’t last very long, though, if you’re not a die-hard fan. Beyond the initial wonder of seeing that huge mecha robot, who moves to music, there’s seriously not a lot to do. If you pay to go up the dock tower, well, you get to crowd around with other travellers behind a glass panel to see mostly … the shoulders and back of Gundam. The night view of Yokohama Bay are awesome, though.
All in all, as someone not too familiar with Gundam, I can’t say I deeply enjoyed the visit. It was just “fun.” The café food, by the way, was pricey but okay. I had a curry rice and it was on the tangy side but tasty.

We went to check out the 18m tall Gundam. My boys do not know much about Gundam but they were fascinated to see Gundam move. It’s very well done with great background music and sound. The museum offers a lot of extra information about the project. It also has a shop selling Gundam souvenir at a reasonable price.

They said this moving Gundam is coming down at the end of March so I lost 2 days Tuesday is closed. From Shin Yokohama we went to Kikuna next stop on the Yokohama(JR) Line to Toyoko line to the end Motomachi Chinatown exit 4. Go past the tower and keep going along the bay. Then you see it. Enjoyed watching the moving Gundam was it a great deal. My son thought so. Suggestion order food after the Gundam has done its act.

If u wanna see the whole full and half awakening i think you need at least an hr more. I stay alot longer because i had to wait for the sunset for the night light show

Without a ticket, ie, without entering the park, you can see only about half of the statute. In my view, it is better to pay $1650 yen and enter the park. But, it would not be necessary to pay more to get into the Cage to watch the details.
