This shopping area was once the most prosperous in Yokohama, but now the area around Yokohama Station is more prosperous. This shopping area is famous for Japanese, especially, elderly due to popular song that was popular over 40 years ago.Access is nice, two stations are available, one is JR Kannai Station, and the other is Subway Kannai Station.Shops are generally... It at first seems like a charming street mall with heaps of food to indulge in. However, I did begin to notice the red-light district in some of the side streets. It is not so much a bad thing however, I found it quite interesting that it existed in such an area that sees vast amounts of food traffic of... More

The Nozawaya is also gone, though part of the facade is still intact. Yurindo bookstore still there. Don Quijote (that's the way they spell it in English) store down the way a bit has a lot of stuff.... More

The main street has lots of nice restaurants, stores and whatnot. The side streets are where the love hotels, soaplands, and other questionable businesses are... INteresting for a walk - especially in the early evening.

2 posts on Trip Advisor said to go to this area for the shopping. Walked around for a few hours and unless you want to see a few brooms or flowers or napkins for sale - dont waste your time.

I like Isezaki. It has character. It is off the main tourist routes, and it is modest, but that is its charm. It is for ordinary folk, with limited means, so you will find bargains here, like a nice little souvenir shop, where the owner speaks English, and a great little second hand clothes shop. Someone has spent money on... More
