I've been twice. Very enthusiastic English-speaking docents both times. For Americans, think of this as a small and quiet version of Old Sturbridge (MA) in which you can see how the historical homes have influenced the present. Quiet and not crowded. My grandson (10) wasn't...More

A nice collection of old homes. Each home was open to view with good explanations. Several homes had volunteers, some of which spoke English, ready to share information about the homes. It is set on a hill so there is walking and climbing, but not...More

It was a perfect wether to visit this amazing place. Be careful if you don't enjoy walking. But it is a easy walk. There are nearly 23 houses and every house contains its unique history. Different Japanese family with fame had their houses with unique...More

I love old houses so this was really interesting to me. It is hard to imagine people living and working in these houses. These buildings were brought from all over Japan and reconstructed here at the museum and they have done a wonderful job. I...More

This is a museum quite unlike any other that I have visited in Japan. Some years ago, the mayor of Kawasaki City decided to set aside a large park area in Noborito and recreate the look and feel of old Japanese homes. However, instead of...More

It was really good to see and learn about old Japanese houses. I recommend to apply in advance for a guide.

Entrance fee is 300 yen. Nice place to walk around by watching old houses. There is a restaurant inside. Will visit again definitely.

This open air museum featuring traditional houses in different parts of Japan which have been re-assembled here in a large park in Kawasaki is a wonderful example of conservation. The English write-ups are comprehensive and explain in painstaking detail the peculiar structure and floorplan of...More

Very pleasant afternoon walking through old houses! Not crowded at all... less than 30 minutes to walk here from JR Nanbu Line's Noborito Station - there are maps at the station and near the entrance so it's pretty easy to find.

Hmm. It's a bit of a go but doable. Take the Keikyu Line to Keikyu Kawasaki station. Short walk to JR Kawasaki Station, then take the Nambu Line to Noborito. Taxi or a ~800m walk to the park with the museum. Station staff at... More

Take the Tokyu Line to Musashi Kosugi. Then change to the Nambu Line to Noborito. At Noborito change to the South Bound Odakyu line for just one stop. Avoid the express train that will miss the station. At Musashi Kosugi it... More
