If visiting Hakone this is a must! If you bought the Hakone Free Pass this will be one of the travel amenities.

Watch the Mount Fuji reports. This closes down often due to gases, ashes, etc. this runs very timely and has fantastic views. I would try mornings rather than afternoons.

On an overcast day, when you cannot see Mt Fuji, why would anyone want to take the cable-car ? Especially when they pack people like sardines !? There's nothing interesting up there.

Excellent rides with great views subject to weather conditions. Smooth take off and landing unlike other cable cars ( Ropeway ) we have taken. Staff are Super efficient n polite n safety of passengers always on TOP of their list! Buy Hakone Free Pass to enjoy unlimited rides up/down the mountain slope!

If you don't have the Hakone free pass, this is a little pricey (2400 yen return trip), but it's a nice way to see the volcano, the lake, and Gora park.

We travelled on the rope way in May, Golden Week in Japan, which is a week of public holidays. A great experience but massive waiting times, very over crowded!
