Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There was very little in English in the museum and you can only go so far with google translate. We ate in the restaurants which was nice but pricey.
Very set up to sell more than anything else.

We arrived about 10.30am by local bus from Gora Station. Gorgeous Italian themed villas set in beautifully manicured gardens with ponds, statues, artworks and glittering glass featured trees and shrubs. Stunning!
We loved the antique glass featuring the Venetian, Prague and Paris collection on display. Truly beautiful pieces in a wonderful villa setting with elegant rooms.

A recital featured a wonderful resident violinist in Alberto De Meis. His music was truly lovely as he played I Dreamed a Dream from Le Miserables, Endless love, You Raise Me Up as well as the fun show tune in Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and The Mickey Mouse Club song for the children. Albert made his violin sing and we all clapped along.
On the central glass table a beautiful piece of feature glass turned into a water feature. Magic!

The Museum features works by celebrated glass masters from Europe, USA and Asia. Wonderful!
I bought a few small beautifully crafted pieces for my Christmas display, tax free. The gift shop display is gorgeous and there is no pressure to buy anything. A lovely lady took such care in wrapping my purchases.

We headed out to explore the extensive gardens and had some lunch on the main villa terrace. Lemon pasta with prawns, dessert and a glass of wine. Lovely quality food and quite inexpensive. Delicious!

We had a brilliant afternoon and definitely recommend a visit. Thank you so much.

– This is a wonderland of Venetian Glass exquisite and beautifully presented in a walk through museum full of colour and sparkle – the open air grounds feature a bridge, water mill a lake and an upmarket restaurant ( seperate no charge entrance fee) – we were here on a Sunday with lots of visitors who were predominately Japanese families – entrance was 1800 yen on the pricey side but to me well worth the value.

We dined in the restaurant for lunch. The chicken wasn’t cooked well, but the rest of the food was very good and dessert was especially good with cheesecake, panna cotta and dense chocolate cake.

The old part of the Museum has some beautiful Chihully, Tagliatpietra, etc. That is the best part of the museum. The glass forest is lovely with the sparkling trees. Of course, they have large gift shops. The outside is lovely to walk around the gardens. Very pretty.

I've visited many art museums including those specializing in glass. The Hakone Venetian Glass Museum was unique. I was afraid that the Italianate architecture and crystal installations on trees and bridges would seem kitchy, but I enjoyed walking grounds as well as visiting the exhibitions. The museum is beautifully incorporated into the natural surroundings.

I found the size perfect for an hour visit to the exhibits and grounds. I skipped shopping in the stores and wasn't hungry enough for a restaurant stop so can't comment. I'd recommend as a refreshing stop to anyone interested in glass art forms.

The display lights were on when we visited, so the whole place feels like a fairy wonderland. I love the pieces on display, the artwork is truly exquisite. However, the museum display portion is quite small and morphs quickly into the gift shops area. The shopping area feels larger than the museum area and it’s all really very commercialized.

A little piece of Italy in Japan. See in gardens their is a range of Venetian glass small and large on display. It was relaxing wandering through the gardens looking at pieces

I was there just before darkness. So I started to view the outside items by daylight and then the lights turned on and it became fairyland. Really beautiful.
The inside works are also nice but I liked the garden better.
