I headed west on a big street from the north exit of Mito Station. At the side of the road stood the glittering black-based Torii of Toshogu Shrine, and as I continued on, there was Miyashita Ginza Shopping Street. This is where Toshogu Shrine stands on a hill just north of the shopping street. 　It was morning hours when we visited, so all the shops were shuttered. It must have felt that way because of the rows of shutters, but it felt like a deep, Showa retro arcade district.
