Unless you are zoo completist or live in Chiba or stuck in Narita this is probably not a place to search out. If you are in Tokyo it's not as accessible as Ueno say and it's not as spacious and as interesting as either Tama or Zoorasia. But it is charming and we enjoyed it. It's compact yet spacious for... A City run Zoo, with caring staff, designed for families. Has been modernised, with some new enclosures, including a lion that comes close enough to touch, but for the thick glass wall. Is spotless and only minutes from the Central city. Easy access on a unique, suspended monorail. Cheap to enter, with children free. Spacious, 85 acres of natural grounds... More

I'm sure they care for their animals, but most of the the cages just looked too small. We went round it in 90 mins. It was cheap to visit and the monorail trip from Chiba to the zoo was cool.

Just east of Tokyo, Chiba is where Japan’s gateway Narita International Airport is located. The city of Narita, close by the airport, is sometimes visited by international travelers as a “quick taste” of Japan during a layover. The Tokyo Disney Resort is also in Chiba, just cross the border with Tokyo. The Tokyo Motor Show usually takes place in Makuhari... More

the zoo is clean and well maintained. The chimpanzee even performs attractive signs if he is in a mood. A day trip to hang out with family or friends.

I went to the zoo and although some of the enclosures were okay the primates (monkeys) enclosures are horrific and barbaric..... If you have any love of animals just don't go!!! The park is very big the enclosures should be increased considerably. Some animals were in their enclosures alone and the cows and a few other animals had nose rings....... More

It was interesting to walk around and the animals were grouped as if you are entering smaller zoos inside one big zoo. Quite cheap entrance fee. Going there via the urban monorail is also a nice experience to try.

To begin with, try and take the mono-rail to the zoo. It's an experience on it's own especially if you get one of the themed trains where even the announcements are in character The zoo itself is a collection of wide green spaces with collections of enclosures around the edge. Everything is tucked away, there's a feeling of discovery as... More

Zoo has all main animal a zoo should has (except cats, no tiger and lion). It is big zoo with lots of tree, very nice considering many other zoo in Tokyo and surrounding area. But the facility is getting old. Many thing doesn't work at the amusement park (part of the zoo). Entrance fee is cheap, about 500 yen. A... More
