The sunset is supposedly very nice but we arrived as the clouds rolled in still it was nice and quiet place to visit. Very few tourists in the evening hours. We took a bus from Wakkanai station and walked for a about 5 minutes.

We visited this area mainly to see the Noshappu Aquarium, but were attracted by the red and white painted lighthouse which is behind the aquarium. We found Cape Noshappu to be a very quiet area where a few persons were fishing and others sitting and...More

It was another beautiful place worth visiting with the beautiful scenery but again faced with the icy wind. The dolphin symbol was gorgeous. Small and interesting aquarium is nearby. A shop with interesting stuff and seafood is also nearby.

There is a light house and a science museum close by. Parking lot is free. The beach is nice. We visited both Cape Soya and Cape Noshappu.

I was here last January, for few minutes. The wind was very strong, the snow was piling everywhere... The scenery is very nice, but no more in winter. A must see, anyhow

A few attractions in that area. 1) Light house 2) Aquarium 3) Cape: One of the great place to see Sunset in Wakkanai. You can see mount Rishiri from here on a clear day.

Actually it is a cape like many others, but being the most northern was the reason to pay a visit. A car is handy as public transport does not run often. A lot of Japanese come to visit, so that is part of the fun.
