Our cruise ship recently stopped in this eminently forgettable town. Don't get me wrong, the place was spotless (no graffiti anywhere) and the people were polite an friendly, but there is nothing o interest here. For 600 yen an adult can ride this tram all day, but once you get off, there are really no places of interest to visit.

On time and very polite service! You can see all around the town and go to many signature places with Hakodate streetcar. Worth it!!!

The tram can get you to many places around Hakodate. Unfortunately, we were not informed about the one day tourist pass. It will help tourists if there are some signs in English. Else, you need to remember to take a ticket when you board the tram. When you alight, you need to drop the ticket into a machine which shows... More

Japan it may be, it is not one of those modern, quiet, stylish tram system. It belongs to the old time street car type, and can be found in other Japanese cities of similar size. You can pay on a per ride basis or take out a Day Pass for 600 yen. You can buy the Day Pass directly from... More

So many cities have ripped up their streetcar/tramlines but Hakodate had the wisdom to retain this excellent public transport. Some of the trams must be decades old but they provide a regular and efficient service to many areas of the city.I was quite surprised by how fast they race along.

The easiest and cheapest way to go around Hakodate should be by tram. The day pass of yen 600 and the many stops within the city were nice for tourists. Although there were limited seats within a tram cart, yet the frequency of which would mean you need not to wait for too long. By the way, you won't get... More

Frustrating experience dealing with the trams as they always arrive packed...but yet they only come by once every 10 minutes or so...for short distances, you're better off walking...the schedules were constantly off also...far from the efficiency and precision that is e pride of Japan.

By far the best way of commuting this single car tramway of good old days . The one we first climbed onto was all of wood with a driver cabin in front and ticket attendant cabin at the back reminding of good old days of city travels . The tram is the one that takes you around the town and... More

Was looking for a way to get around like one of the locals and found it. Buy the all day pass for 600 yen. Much cheaper than paying each time you get off. Many stops along the way so you will be getting on and off many times. Brings you close to many great sites in Hakodate.
